I'll nominate Scott Severin. Played effectively for the club for a number of seasons, in a few different positions. Perhaps never quite appreciated as others in that era.

The way he left wasn't great, as I remember.

It was more unfortunate than anything else. Wanted to have a crack at England when his contract ran out, but only Boston United showed any interest, by which point CL had used his budget to sign Michael Stewart on loan and Jamie McAllister on a permanent deal. So he ended up at Aberdeen.

My first thought too. Didn't he play for Chelsea at some point?

Good shout as well. Decent left backs are a distant memory these days...

It was worse than that.  Levein used the money which could have kept Seve to sign Pereira and McAllister - two of the worst players ever to play for Hearts.

Mention of Jim Hamilton on another thread got me thinking who never got our full appreciation

Good shout. Better on deck than in the air and felt he was a bit of a scapegoat for our form in 98/99 after loss of McCann and Cameron

I thought McAllister was awright but then I was about 12 back then.

Struggled at first for a few weeks but contributed hugely with some important goals

Never got going even though he had a decent reputation down south

by all accounts his brothers were a bit of a nuisance when Celtic visited haha

Put in a good run of performances under JJ at left back in 10/11 season

Stevie frail and Kevin Thomas are 2 that spring to mind. Although the latter ****ed his career with his off field antics.

Thomas would be one to put under category of bloom fell off the rose. - injury did not help mind

Milo is a great shout. He struggled to capture form of 04/05 consistently and was probably the biggest victim of the politics at the club

There's been far better players mentioned but I always liked Danny Grainger.

Technically fairly limited but always honest and hard working.

I always rated him on a technical level. Maybe just lacked a yard of pace

Kevin McKenna.

Thought he was a top class defender and actually covered the striker role very well.

For a centre half he had a decent strike on him

Was quite well documented he was one of Vlad's informers, but if your boss tells you i'll pay you x amount as a week to week bonus to keep in touch and answer my questions then what do you do?

Every goal he scored for us was a belter. 2 v Celtic and 2 v Hibs seem to remember?

I actually reckon Zal was a bigger culprit for that than miko

even with a clear split in the camp a few players I have spoken to always seem to comment on how miko seemed to mix well

Not good in the air!!!. He came on for the last quarter of the 1998 final against Rangers and dominated our penalty box under continual siege.

Generally speaking I felt his timing was off in the air. If you look at his goals. Most I would imagine have came from his feet

Phil Dunphy

Is this just people naming players who were decent?

Phil Stamp? Andy Driver? Karipidis?

Underrated? No chance.

He was rank rotten. Woeful! Two semi finals in 2005 are perfect examples of when he hid and put in abysmal performances.

He seemed to carve out a lengthy career down south after leaving us but thankfully Fyssas arrived to knock him down to third choice and see him out the door.

Hold up.

A whole pound stood in the way of us renewing Severins contract? Tight times indeed. :D
