Mention of Jim Hamilton on another thread got me thinking who never got our full appreciation

I thought Hammy was very poor during 98/99 and it was a breath of fresh air when Jackson replaced him.

Gary McSwegan was a good striker for us once he got going though.

Neil Pointon. Loved him at LB. No world beater, but we could have done with someone half as good for the past several seasons now!

I also had loads of time for Dale Carrick, I thought he was going to become a big breakthrough striker for us until injuries screwed him over.

Samuel Camazzola

Neil MacFarlane. Done the basics so well and allowed guys like Hartley to become more effective.

jambos are go!

Willie Gibson and Rene Moller. A few of the Lithuanians I can't fully remember. A defender called Kanecelkis and a attacking midfielder called Ivan something or other.

Agree but leading up to that season he was ver effective

William H. Bonney

Stevie frail and Kevin Thomas are 2 that spring to mind. Although the latter ****ed his career with his off field antics.

Stephane Mahe

Speaking to a Celtic supporting friend earlier in the week and we were talking about Mahe, both agreed, a top player.

Brian Whittaker. Bizarre football player. Don’t think even he knew what he was going to do next. Always liked him. Played with a smile and earned his place in a very good Hearts team

You couldn't say he was underated though.

We paid about 750k for him .

I don't think we got our money's worth.

Steven Boyack got a lot of stick..... my mates and I used to call him Stevie Bawsack (no doubt others did too), but he won us over in the end.

Don Cowie didn't get nearly the amount of love he deserved imo

The odd notable game aside, I thought Cowie was poor overall for Hearts. A midfielder who never seemed to spend all that much time in midfield.

I'll nominate Scott Severin. Played effectively for the club for a number of seasons, in a few different positions. Perhaps never quite appreciated as others in that era.

Andy Bowman {Davy's dad}, Walter Kidd. Peter Oliver, Danny Paton, TommyTraynor, Jim Jeffries (who later found everlasting fame as a manager), Norrie Davidson, Don Kerrigan, Billy Higgins, all good players, most of them overshadowed by bigger name team mates.
