To wit: The utter stupidity and intentional point missing of this meme is well beyond being worthy of discussion, and I had already ranted and told him to enjoy his Kristallnacht before Trump's tweets about AOC, Tlaib, Omar and Pressley, but I finally levelled with him in a more serious tone yesterday following that. Just basically said, earnestly, to always carry his passport now, as ICE have detained thousands of straight up citizens up to this point--something that had seen a sharp uptick since Trump got elected--and even had veterans on deportation lists. Given those tweets, I said I wasn't sure how much longer even that would protect him. It's actually scary. Welcome to Gilead. Under his eye... Normally I would agree with that, but that New York Court and I am repeating myself here, but do so because I strongly believe that Trump is mentioned and possibly even photographed in the evidence they have recovered. He has to fight to stay President because the day he is ousted he no longer has the protection from indictment he presently uses. Agreed Corbyn and Sanders are differentiated by ideology. Whether their ideology will attract enough support to be elected and have enough power to implement their ideas is dubious. The "Squad" I think made a mistake in their joint response, which to me played into Trump's hands. They are individuals with different backgrounds and somewhat differing political positions. Trump wants them to be seen as a cohort of "Un-American" outsiders with un-American leftist socialist views. As another poster said, mainstream democrats see them (or rather their high media profile, particularly that of the media star New York Senator Ocasio-Cortez (ACE)) as unhelpful in trying to attract the votes needed to defeat Trump. Although many parts (primarily rural areas) are still rampantly red, the weird thing here is that it is, and always has been, "Texas First", not "America First". There is a great quote in this article, albeit from a member of a group that wants Texas to secede, that shows what I mean: Clicky "Texas is politically, culturally and economically distinct from the United States as a whole," Texas Governor Greg Abott is also quoted in there as saying, "What Texans believe in is that we need the United States to be more like Texas. In fact, I believe America longs to be the way Texas is." Also, this article gives a few examples of Texas actually being quite liberal on certain issues, including immigration, gun control (!!) and marijuana when compared to the rest of the country. For the Dems, there's a real danger of shooting themselves in the foot. Trump's popularity has been pegged at about 42.5% for the last five months. He got 46% of the popular vote in 2016, so 42.5% is not enough for him to win. But if the Dems put forward a dodgy nominee, there could be a few % of the electorate who decide that the "devil they know" is a safer bet, and give Trump the margin he needs for victory. The Democratic nomination process is turning into a disturbing farce.
