NASA’s InSight lander, which was launched from Earth in May, is scheduled to land on the Red Planet today at 2.54pm EST (7.54pm GMT). We won’t get confirmation back on Earth until 3.01pm EST (8.01pm GMT), however, owing to the distance between our two planets.

All the action will be live on NASA TV, which we’ve embedded below, with shots from mission control as the team waits nervously to hear from the spacecraft. The first image from the lander on the surface of Mars is expected at 3.04pm EST (8.04pm GMT), but NASA noted it could also arrive the next day.

Anyone know a good place to park on Mars?

If you've been recently is there anywhere you can recommend does a breakfast/lunch combo?

Great input, e-mailed your concerns  to NASA HQ.:kirk:

Just ignore the signs at Aldis and park there if you can find one.

Can't help with the food I'm afraid.

From what I have seen they use too much paprika on everything. Red and spicy by the looks of it as far as eating goes.

So people have watched other people

Could you run thousands of lines of code and create computer-based simulations to predict a Mars Landing?  NASA InSight aerospace engineer Carlie Zumwalt says the complex problem boils down to a simple physics equation.

InSight is set to land on the Red Planet at 2:54pm on Nov. 26.

Moon landings were a bit meh back in the day. Watching people sitting or standing about isn't my thing.

But all the research and stuff is brilliant.

I could discuss lots of everyday benefits from the space programme. Also interestingly a major factor is helping maintain peace in the world.

The fist bumps were cool though.

There is one, it's called the Mars Bar, it's next to the Milky Way.

Where's my coat. ?

This is a lie, it is impossible to get thru the Filament Dome that protects us. I bet these are normal pictures of Earth photoshopped with an orange filter added..

Do some research people.. ???????

The Instrument Deployment Camera (IDC) on NASAs InSight lander took this image of the Martian surface on Nov. 26, 2018.

Landed safely, first picture of the Martian surface taken from the Insight Lander.

The Instrument Deployment Camera (IDC), located on the robotic arm of NASA's InSight lander, took this picture off the Martian surface on Nov. 26, 2018, the same day the spacecraft touched down on the Red Planet. The camera's transparent dust cover is still on in this image, to prevent particulates kicked up during landing from settling on the camera's lens. This image was relayed from InSight to Earth via NASA's Odyssey spacecraft, currently orbiting Mars.

The signal from InSght telling NASA that it's OK. This is a "beep" that comes directly from Insight and is picked up by Earth-based ground antennae.

Also  the MarCO satellites will be in range to relay the "I'm alive" signal, but will be out of range when Insight is meant to deploy its solar panels after landing. NASA will need to wait 5 1/2 hours for the Mars Reconaissance Orbiter (MRO) to be in the right position to relay the signal from InSight confirming that the solar panels have deployed.

Image Details;

For more information about the mission, go to https://mars.nasa.gov/insight.

What did the good folk of NASA do after the landing? Work, rest and play I assume.

Its not some kind of fast food operation ffs.

Collecting data takes time, i take it you do  not know the purpose of this lander, or if you do you seem a tad angry and impatient.

This is a mission to collect data of Mars interior , that is the goal.

Death Valley is right next to Arizona. It, too, looks nothing like that.
