Still peeved we didn’t try for Harry Kane.

Seriously though how often do you think teams offer for big players knowing they won’t get them? Surely 99.7% of semi-pro/pro teams would benefit from yaya toure signing for them but how many do you think actually offer people like this? Imagine yaya was bored of the premier league and for some reason had a liking for us as he saw a video of us online or used us in football manager or loved Edinburgh or something. I’d be mad if we didn’t offer every player like that just in the hope that 1/1000 would be like “haha yeah that would be a laugh”.

Never realised we had as many outs

Effectively we are only 2 men up when 14 have left and 16 came in

Shrewd business this window also

We are heading in the right direction

Aye, but isn't it a season loan, with a season left on his contract?  So, effectively, he's gone.

But still available to be recalled however unlikely or should someone want to sign him we'd get any fee or if/when he leaves the money freed up comes off our wage bill.

So, effectively, he's still ours but on loan.

Was going to say who in their right mind would pay a fee for the fish... but did we by any chance?? Sounds like something we’d do ??

Thankfully not

derby washed their hands of him then Robbie swooped to swipe him up from the free agent pool

In general the quality of player has massively increased. Very good window. Big month coming up to get some momentum for when the tougher fixtures occur.

So if we DONT count Milinkovic or Mitchell then its (so far):

14 in

&

14 out (counting Sammon as an out)

plus 5 on loan.

So we are about the same as last season (or even worse) for squad size?

If we discount Naismith too then its 13 in v 13 out (not including Sammon) and 5 on loan (again, not including Sammon as he was on loan last season so doesn't make any difference).

We'd also have to make allowance for Calumn Morrison breaking into the first team squad, he's really another in even though not a new signing.

Still similar numbers to last season then.

With all the activity it seems we were up by so much more. Just shows to go you eh.

Yes, it wasn't until I saw that list of outs that I realised how much activity there had been the other way.

Good point, he will seem like a new player.  You could also add Godinho when he returns from injury, as he wasn't an established first teamer last season, unlike Brandon, who will also hopefully be back from injury in a couple of months.

A crucial factor for me is that we started that work early, I'm sure Levein said we had started planning our recruitment from January.  It meant we had 9 or 10 on board by the time we started our pre-season.

Yeah I thought I seen in paper he had but I can’t remember the club confirming it,thought they would have made a bigger deal of it with him being the longest serving player?!

When Hearts make signings we are looking at maybe a 50% success rate, out of the 16 I’d say we are looking at 9 very good signings 6 potentially very good/jury’s out and 1 not so good. That’s an incredibly good window.

Ins,

1. Steven MacLean. Very good signing

2. Uche ikpeazu. Very good signing

3. Bobby burns. Potentially very good

4. Jake mulraney. Jury’s out/potential

5. Olly Lee. Very good signing

6. Ben garuccio. Very good signing

7. Zdenek zlamal. Very good signing

8. Ryan Edwards. Not so good

9. Oliver bozanic. Jury’s out/potential

10. Peter Haring. very good signing

11. Steven naismith. Very good signing

12. Kevin silva. potential

13. Colin Doyle. Jury’s out/potentially a good signing

14. Jimmy Dunne. Very good signing

15. Demi Mitchell. very good signing

16. Craig wighton. Jury’s out/potentially very good

I'd say the jury is still out on most, but the initial signs are encouraging.

We're 3 league games in.

And 3 wins too including v Celtic. Enthusiasm is entirely justified. Agree with the other posters list aside from Doyle, I think he's an excellent signing that could step in easily for Zlamal if he gets injured

Bit negative for you mate, Edwards isn’t great and Bozanic looks a bit ponderous, Mulraney has a lot to learn and Burns needs nurturing but the signs are good.

Not true at all when you look at this window and the January window! In January one player came in permanently while rafal grzelak, Cole Stockton, krystian Nowak, esmael goncalves and Viktor noring were removed from wage bill so we've basically freed up wages to bring players in
