Debut 4
Following on from Been Here Before's Old Trafford before Anfield point regarding YNWA, the Scouse stole the name Spion Kop too. It was originally Arsenal who had it and had links to the Boer War battle. Edited August 1, 2018 by Debut

Aye, aye so it was. Arsenal 1904 and the Scouse robbers in 1906. Everyday a schoolday and all that. How did you sit through something narrated by Mark Lawrenson though? I dint recall it though. The Boney M thing was a bit more 'generic'- and just used the chorus, a bit like Spot The Loony or something, if you see what I mean. Like I say though I could just be imagining it. Edited August 1, 2018 by been here before

Spellczech
You know, I never realised until reading this thread that You'll Never Walk Alone was from the musical Carousel (which I've never seen). I actually thought it was written by Gerry and the Pacemakers...

martinb
IIRC did all the bigot teams (us included then) not stop singing you'll never walk alone after Carousel was first shown on telly and people saw it was sung by a nun.

I was listening to a spot of Boney M the other day (dont ask) and Brown Girl In The Ring came on. I found myself thinking there used to be a football chant/song to the tune but couldnt think of what it was. So anyone know or am I imagining it?
