Ray Winstone
Go to the International up in the deen, but seeing as I am down for the summer I thought I should feed my addiction by going to one in Edinburgh every so often. Used to just nip into the Stanley on Shandwick place for a quick gamble and some free toasties but it was not great to be honest. Dont want to go to the Maybury because I might get shot in the face! Where would people recomend?
The Future's Maroon
Apart from the obvious reason for wanting to avoid it (getting shot in the face) I would go to the Maybury, I am a member there and always had a good night out....even when I lost! I'd say best one in the city I have been to.....saying that I have yet to try the one at Fountainbridge, which I have heard is very good? If in doubt, Shandwick Pl is a 'safe bet' (no pun intended)! kjc2006
I go to the one at Fountain Park. I used to go to the one at Shandwick Place which was a bit of a dive, the one at Fountain Park is quite good.
Bigsmak
Shandwick place has closed. It's Moved to Fountainbridge. The Casino there is pretty good. The food is amazing and the beer is a good price. about 3 - 4 times bigger than the international on Market Street.
Do The Dance
Circus casino is a nice place (fountainpark). Big, spaced out, and a nice restaurant and bar.

Do The Dance
What are the minimum bet limits on the Black Jack tables? Now you're asking ... but I couldn't tell you I'm afraid. No more than what you had in Stanley though, and they have some with a lower minimum bet than others.

Sherlock
The Berkeley on Shandwick Place was a bit of a dive but i preferred it to Circus. Circus has the the worst door staff i've ever encountered in Edinburgh. If i could nominate any of Edinburgh's door staff for a does of the old ultra-violence, it would be them. Era Macaroons
Id have to say the Maybury is the 'classiest' and has the best atmosphere the building inside and decor is like something from the 20's or 30's It has the restaurant above ringing the gaming floor below so you can dine looking down on the tables....good excuse to take the bird out there;) Fountainbridge seems to be taking over as the main place to go probably due to city centre location but feels like a warehouse and youll meet some mean ugly poker players there:rolleyes:
Billy the Jambo
I used to work in the Martell Casino on Newington Road now if you are talking about dives it was the biggest dive of the 4 casinos in Edinburgh. It is now a chinese restaraunt and the casino moved to Leith a few years ago thats when i left

Toggie88
I've only ever been to the Maybury and Stanley at Shandwick place (now closed down). I quite fancy trying others. Is the one on Queen Street still there?

Is the one on Queen Street still there? Yes its still there...but I'd say its a bit off a dive. bit compact, not many tables. Theres also another huge one at Ocean Terminal...if u go down Leith Walk and go straight ahead forever ...u come to it.....its of the 'warehouse' variety though and lacks any atmos. It is just full of Chinese people. However they do an amazing meal deal. 3 courses (not a great choice but the curry was very good) for ?5. Yes that's ?5 British Pounds. I took the lass, we had soft drinks (2 each and a 3 course meal each.) Stuffed for a tenner. Can't think of better value anywhere. Also, we were on the balcony looking at the games room and watched people loose their entire wages on Roulette. Great entertainment with their head in their hands wondering what they are goin got tell their wives!
upthehill
York Place is a dive, but great as it's on my way home from town. The one in Leith is good, especially when they have their free Chinese food night once a week. A local takeaway provides a slap up feed at midnight once a week, totally free! Worth the return taxi fare for 5 folks!
