I don't understand fans who want easy groups in the Champs League. If that's what you want, then may as well play in the Europa.

Celtic have dodged the Chelsea bullet again. Would love to see those two drawn together just once.

It's a financial argument above anything else.

Celtic assistant manager talking at a press conference. He couldn't have looked any more like Rodgers. Cringey as ****.

The unwashed green and grey demons will travel to these games in big numbers.

Given that the locals and the police are not the most tolerant there is great potential for TGFITW to disgrace themselves yet again on the Europrean stage.

It's about the only thing I'm looking forward to in this farce of a "competition"

They'll get ****ed most likely but I'm still slightly jealous, trips to Munich, Paris and even Anderlecht is probably a level we'll never reach again sadly.

Police in these countries have bigger fish to fry at the moment so would expect the great unwashed to be treated ruthlessly if they waste the police resources with their nonsense.

From a playing side hope they get royally pumped with the thumb disappearing under his wig and Guppy sent off at least once.

This!

Who knows when we will get another decent away trip in Europe.

Bordeaux, Braga and Basel seem like a lifetime ago now!

Usually about 10 points gets you through to the next round, three wins and a draw... PSG v Celtic games, like last seasons Man City v Celtic will be interesting...

The only hope for Scottish football is outside investment.. Improving the coefficient is entirely worthless whilst the rest of club in Scotland are bottom feeding scraps.

Get Outside investment into our league somehow (unlikely I know).. In my view we should beg our way into a British league.. A lot of clubs wouldbt make it but aftrr 5/10 years wed establish ourselves at a good level

Its done, it's gone, Fergus A McCann did scottish football and this country a great disservice,by saving that abomination of a "club". Who with their equally disgusting neighbours, will ensure what happened in recent times, Aberdeen, Hearts, Dundee United, will never happen again.

The football governance, are only interested in the duopoly, nothing else.

Pre curser to the UEFA cup, had to be invited originally and another club from the same city couldn't be involved in Europe. If you read up on it, initially it was pretty low key tournament as teams finishing quite low in leagues would play in it and I think Hearts turned down playing in it in the 50s or 60s as we were on a North American tour.

I think it was originally only for cities/ towns who had trade fairs.

It meant some clubs weren't eligible.

Since the fourth edition it's like the UEFA cup, with following teams: Newcastle United, Leeds, Arsenal, Birmingham, Valencia, Atletico, Athletic, Barcelona, Real, Roma, Juventus, Fiorentina, Bayern, Inter, Koln, Milan, Hajduk, Dinamo Zagreb, Porto, Benfica, Manchester United, Real Zaragoza, Liverpool, Sporting, Ferencvaros and others.

This tournament was a huge problem for the European Cup - interesting games with strong teams.

-------------------------------------------------

Inter-Cities Fairs Cup 1964-1965 semi-finals:

Atletico Madrid vs Juventus (3:1, 1:3 [4:4], playoff game: 1:3)

Manchester United vs Ferencvaros (Hungary) (3:2, 0:1 [3:3], playoff game: 1:2)

Final:

Juventus vs Ferencvaros (0:1)

Ferencvaros (1964 Hungarian champion, 1965 - 2d place)

Manchester United (1964 English first division 2d place)

Atletico Madrid (1964 La Liga 7th place, 1965 La Liga 2d place)

Juventus (1964 SA 4th place)

-------------------------------------------------

European Cup 1964-1965 semi-finals:

Liverpool vs Inter (3:1, 0:3)

Vasas ETO Gyor (Hungary) vs Benfica (0:1, 0:4)

Final:

Inter vs Benfica (1:0)
