Was about to ask, why would Warburton feel the need to bust Hibs' balloon? Then I remembered, not nice to be the first manager of a football club to lose a cup final to a club that hasn't won it for over 100 years, then face the resulting loss of face, and job!

Not surprised by this. He's not worth that much anyway, what's he actually done in the game to justify that price tag?

Anyway, no luck hobos...

Tick tock

Fruit shoot, packet of golden wonder and a curly wurly.

There's two things in there that will have Jonno whipping out his Kenneth Williams.

More likely that he only agreed to a contract extension on the basis that a trigger bid amount was inserted at a moderate level.

On the other hand why would anyone believe what that roaster Warburton says?

Cummings could have been a Jambo if he'd screwed the nut and none of us would have complained about that over the last couple of seasons.

And it pisses me off when aerosols like Warburton take the Mickey out of Scottish football.

You don't need to believe warburton. You just need to use common sense. Cummings isn't an international, only has mostly lower league experience and scored about the same as other strikers down there, and there weren't other teams after him so why would any team go in with a bid of 1m? It was 500 grand tops plus add ons.

Anyone know just how much of a percentage the bank take from transfers? It's going to be substantial, surely after letting them rob forgiving them all that debt they accrued when they weren't living within their means...

In the Sunday Mail warburton saying forest paid less than a million for him.

He'll be playing at Perth or Dundee in a couple of years.

the bank won't take anything. Tom Farmer is still receiving hefty payments though (500k at a time?).

Was there not a rumour around the time of the deal with the bank that they would take a percentage of transfer fees in for a set period of time?

I think that time period had expired.

To be honest. If they paid more, and I was the chairman and owner, I would have sacked him on the spot.

Jason went for 600k. Had the clause put in his contract last year

Sounds about right

Wonder who is responsible for the ?1 million plus figure

The papers?

Forest have signed a squad player

Hibs are well known for this. The phantom ?1m plus Plymouth bid for example.

Hibs were due the bank a couple of hefty seven figure payments during the next 5 years.

However,.......these were .. ahem.. consolidated into one easy payment scheme.

Think it amounts to half a million a year that they have to pay back.

Think they've been paying it for 2 or 3 years now.

Not sure how long it is until it's fully paid off.

Edit.... just found this from a few years back ;  http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/hibs-hope-to-be-debt-free-in-ten-years-1-3669736

Back on topic.............Warburton is actually making the claim about the true value of Cummings' transfer to the Nottingham Post and is quoted as saying;-

"That (?1m) figure is wide of the mark, it was not that much money. We will not reveal what it was, but it was not at that level."

I was told roughly the same off a Hibby at work but are you sure on this?

Also do you know if there is a sell on percentage etc....

Cheers

Lucille's Thirsty

The banks must be putting pressure on Farmer therefore putting pressure on the vermin would love them to go through what we did and this time we won't batter an eyelid no help no taking the piss just the utter distain that they deserve.

They wouldn't pull through like we did not in a million.

The problem is they spent a wedge bringing in Lennon. You only have to look at their transfer activity since he arrived to know they've got little left to spend on players. Ambrose will be on a few quid so that's the Cummings cash once they'll sell McGinn they'll get a couple more in and that'll be it until the Celtic squad is finalised a the begging letters will be penned by Lenny and Leeanne!

As confirmed in that article they only owe money to the parent company now ie Farmer. Agreed at ?500k p/a.

The bank debt was written off after reaching an agreement. No idea if the bank gets a cut of any Hibs transfer fee but it was well documented that this was the case with Dundee United after their write off so would expect something similar. It would only be for a set period so it's possible it's expired - hopefully not though.

Yup........should have amended the text in my post accordingly after finding that article.

I had been aware that they still had an annual premium to pay though and the article explains it.

Think they are getting off lightly.

They'll be delighted that the erse fell out of the banking sector and not tyres and exhausts,..........or we might have been calling them cheats.
