They should bring in a rule which says that a player deemed unfit to play for the national team misses the next league game..... oh, apparently there is such a rule but it mustn't be applied to the OF because of the special dispensations to which they are rightly entitled. Spot on 4marsbars. Prior to the OF game in March Scotland played Croatia. McManus, Caldwell, hartley and Brown all played while there were 5 Rangers call offs. Robson was also sent home by the team doctor, who also perfoirms this function for Rangers, protesting he would be fit to play. The following weekend, surprise surprise all the Rangers call offs were fit to play in a 1-0 victory over Celtic. McManus, Caldwell, Hartley and Robson also turned out in the post season game against the Czech Republic but again no Rangers players. Smith the turncoat has previous in this area. In his last stint as Rangers manager the number of Rangers call offs was a national disgrace. What are the chances of the incompetent Gordon Smith taking action against Rangers? What are the chances of self confessed Rangers supporter George Burley invoking the 5 day rule? Dont hold your breath. Interestingly Kenny Miller is reputed to be a diehard national team player. There is a rule in place to discourage call offs the sensible thing to do would be to apply the rule first to see if it helps resolve the problem, if it does not then try another method of resolving the problem.
