Section Q
Can't think of anyone who managed Celtic and went on to have a successful career in management elsewhere. Counting backwards from Deila, (maybe a bit too soon), Lennon..Strachan..O'Neil... To Lou Maccari who bombed it as did Liam Brady, John Barnes, plenty more. Possible exception for Stein & MacNeil. If Brendon thinks it's a stepping stone to something better he could be in for a shock. Anybody...?
DxB Hearts
That's a good point but I'm actually struggling to think of any ex-SPL managers from the past 20 years who have gone on to have really successful management careers elsewhere? Certainly no Hearts manager springs to mind. Levein becoming Scotland manager is probably the only example of someone making a 'step-up' and he had that spell at Utd in between that. Walter Smith at Everton? Not sure he was all that successful. Strachan did alright at Southampton. Alex McLeish won the league cup with Birmingham? Awful at Villa though. O'Neil has been the most successful post-SPL by quite some margin.
