The EU won't chuck secessionists in Spain, France, Belgium and Italy a bone by saying to Scotland that they'll negotiate membership terms whilst we are in the UK and on the way out. That , to me, will be blocked from happening. Scottish independence won't guarantee us the UKs deal or terms either. I reckon it'd be "new state, you'll be taking the terms under Lisbon or nothing". Why is or should Scotland be entitled to anymore special treatment than the accession to the EU of Iceland or Serbia? Timing is everything.
