There was comment yesterday from Campbell Ogilvie suggesting tentatively we're for it.....

However, Hearts managing director Campbell Ogilvie gave the proposal a guarded welcome despite his club's high proportion of imported players.

"In principle, the club is in favour of a scheme promoting home-developed talent," he said.

"For any system to be implemented, it has to be structured appropriately and operable within the EU employment legislation."

"Uefa currently have a home-developed scheme which is accepted and appears successful."

However, Ogilvie stressed: "This scheme proposed by Fifa appears to contravene European Employment legislation."

Campbell Ogilvie said in an interview that Hearts are comfortable with the idea.

Maybe the pre season signings will show us just how comfortable we really are with the plan.

Its a pity a similar proposal wasnt being put in place regarding managers and coaching staff too. Would prevent a repeat of the Malofeev and Chervenkov disasters!

I think Campbell is talking about the UEFA scheme which stipulates how many players must have come from your own acadamy which would mean Eggert, Rapnik etc would be counted as acadamy players not foreign. There is no way that they can restrict EU nationals playing in other EU countries - thats why they got rid of the 3 foreigner rule in europe.

Just realised thats there probably some younger kickbackers who don't remember that rule! Which is now making me feel old!
