Apologies if this has been done before... if you could select your ultimate Hearts 5-a-side team made up of one goalkeeper and any other four positions who would you choose?

My team would be as follows:

          Niemi

          Levein

Skacel Colquhoun

        Robertson

Probably exactly this, although I'd be tempted to put Cameron ahead of Skacel

feel the vibes ...

What a great night that was. An example of how football and fans have changed. Great atmoshphere. Also someone like Willie Johnston who had won euro and domestic medals still with a great appetite for it.

Gone for a bit more of a recent set of players:

Kello (decent at saving pens, so should be a cracking 5s keeper)

Zaliukas (Solid and loved a wee run forward)

Ozturk (Loves a shot)

Skacel (Shoots from anywhere and scores)

Nade (Wouldn't get past him on the 5s pitch)

I remember the League saying the Hearts fans made that tournament and they would keep playing at Ingliston.

The next year it moved to the SEC.

Yip and it slowly died a death as football began to change. Funny how we had Scottish teams challenging for European honours every season but the players were still up for it

Any of the older contingent on here remember an annual 5 a side tournament that took place over a two week period exclusively for works sides. Held at City Park in the 60,s it attracted a lot of good teams although I think there was a few temporary workers on short term contracts. Playing on a full size pitch particularly up the hill it felt a different ball game to the modern version. If I recall a lot of the welfare teams at that time entered the competition. Nostalgic days indeed.

Niemi ......for being quite nimble and ideal for 5 aside goals..

Hartley. MacKay.

Skacel.

Robbo.

Good mix of defensive minds and finishing ability.

Niemi (the ideal keeper for 5s)

Levein (amazing defender and footballer)

Rudi (that left peg would smash goals in from everwhere)

Cameron (my favourite all time player)

Fuller. (The most skill player i have ever seen at Hearts and would be a brilliant 5s player imo

I'm going for experience...

Henry Smith - always good for a laugh.

Big Dave MacPherson - need a reliable stopper.

Dave Mackay - first choice in any hearts team ever.

Alan Gordon - intelligence in head and feet.

Donald Ford - great club servant and reliable goalscorer.

I'd imagine Jim Bett would have been pretty ******* tremendous at fives.

I toyed with Bett as my kind of sweeper/playmaker but plumped for Fulton in that role.

But I agrree with you.

I wonder if there would be any appetite from the clubs for a revived Tennents 6's tournament? Think the fans would be up for it so financially it could be a go'er.

As it's a 5 aside team we're picking, it's not necessarily our best players who would be suited to playing on a small surface and usuing the much smaller goalposts.

For this reason my team would look something along these lines.

Jamie Mac, Henry or Niemi

Kenny Black

Gary Mackay

Sam N or Billy K

Robbo

Movement, skill and goals galore with a very agile keeper.

Can only pick players i've seen in the flesh so,

Gordon

Ozturk

Skacel Suso

Bednar

Was thinking maybe pospisil instead seeing as height doesnt count for much in 5 asides, Sow could also have been a pick since he seems unreal with the ball at his feet
