Police hurt as Chelsea fans riot after Champions League loss

A full-scale riot broke out in London this morning following Chelsea's heartbreaking Champions League final loss to Manchester United on penalties.

Hundreds of Blues supporters, many who had been drinking all day, squared up against rank upon rank of police in full riot gear.

The hooligans rained glasses and bottles on the heads of the police officers as trouble broke out near Fulham Broadway tube station, close to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground.

Just like their brothers from Glasgow.

It seems rioting is back in fashion.

Makes for a good read in the morning papers.

I live near Stamford Bridge and watched the game in a pub on the Fulham Road last night.

Even in the two minutes that we stayed in the pub after the last penalty, you could tell it was going to kick off. I have never felt a mood turn like that in all my years of watching football - it was almost tangible.

Was no surprise when I got home to hear the sirens flashing past on their way down the road and the spotter helicopters flying about above our house for a few hours. Finally died down in the early hours.

I wonder if the English media will blame incognito Rangers fans?

How predictable that these muppets would spit the dummy and kick off.

I'm so glad they got beat last night.

Just an educated guess but I think it is in the Daily Telegraph.

It was on the BBC Radio 1 news this morning.

Out of interest, who or what were they fighting with before the police stepped in?

Maybe it was the 224 who had their flight cancelled thus missing the final being stuck in London :)

Seems to be the way things down south.

Didn't Geordies wreck the Bigg Market after an England exit from a World Cup/Euro Championships? I don't think that Newcastle was the only town scarred either.

As mentioned above it is hardly surprising but it does Chelsea's image no good at all.

Wonder if this would have been posted if it was Man U fans?

Would Man Utd fans have spat the dummy and rioted? ;)

Rioting is the game,

We're all together,

Spilling bloodshed is our aim,

So cheer us on even if the screen remains,

Coz Chelsea/ Rangers is our name!

They are gone now, ul all just have to believe me.

Seriously tho, the manc hordes are a very nasty bunch (as are chelsea) and i think whoever lost were always going to make a show off themselves.

Can't say I've read much defending the actions of the Chelsea supporting thugs.

Never let facts get in the way of a moan.

Here are the people / things who / which I blame for this :

-The Russian police.

-Local Russian hoolies.

-Moscow's lack of a big screen.

-The city not being prepared.

-Something else.

No blame whatsoever should be attached to the Chelsea fans here, they're innocent victims in all this.

because SUSS me ol son they were referring to the huns last week and Chelsea this week then referred to them collectively as the British - insinuating that anyone who does not get offended by the Union flag is a skinhead

I havent heard skinhead mentioned?

I think its to do with the fact that those on here who seem to have a prevelance for Rangers, also seem to have a fondness for Chelski and many also used to have a tendency to put up the badge as their avatars.

I honestly dont have the time right now.

Catching a flight in half an hour.

But im sure there are others who can at least point you in the direction of the threads.

Try looking at the pre-UEFA cup final threads.

Its also a gainst the rules to name posters, so I cant do that, and besides, its all interpretation and suggestion. Its generally a very badly kept secret.

...its all interpretation and suggestion....

Ah, I get it now.

Is this the same kind of "interpretation, which leads to the below conclusions :

- Everyone who hates Celtic supports Rangers.

- Everyone who likes Chelsea supports Rangers.

- Everyone who drinks in Robbo's supports Rangers.

- Everyone who has Unionist beliefs supports Rangers?

...and so on?

I think that I understand now. Thanks for clarifying. Enjoy your flight.
