Nobreath
Really enjoyed tonight - very dignified and well done show - have to say though how talented is Jack Alexander - wrote the script and the songs - then sang them in a superb voice - looking forward to the CD I was the saying the same thing to my son as we left the show last night, Jack Alexander can't half hold a tune. Incredibly talented guy.
Shanks
I thought last night was brilliant, took my girlfriend along and she was in tears most of the night! Very well done to everyone involved. - I may have had something in my eye a couple of times as well.
poultry
Fantastic last night, said it on another thread so proud of my family and friend on stage last night. A well organised and executed show and very emotional. Well done to all involved.

henry
I was there with my family at this unique & historic event, this was a special night and one that will live with us for a very long time. Thought all that participated done a fantastic job. When you hear Ken Stott who narrated live his voice is incredible and with that he was able to tell the story brilliantly. Big sing along at near the end with Craig Herbertson with Hearts of Glory and throughout Jack Alexander was brilliant. Can't speak highly enough of Jack, without his dedication none of this would be possible he's clearly an incredible talented man.
afm
What a fantastic evening. Well done to those who made such an effort to bring the event together, you did the boys proud. Thanks to all the actors, military band and others who contributed to such a memorable tribute. I echo the call for a CD of the songs. Jack Alexander is to be commended for his passion, dedication and commitment.

DETTY29
Great night. Not sure whether I'm loving Jack Alexander for bringing this wonderful story to us all, or hating him for it. I'm a (near) middle aged, emotionless man and whether it is every time I watch Supreme Sacrifice, Footballers United or on several occassions last night, I struggle not to have a tear constantly running down my cheek. well done to all for last night. Jambothump
I couldn't or wouldn't go last night go last night for the simple reason I knew I would have spent the night crying. Jack Alexander researched and produced a book about the ordinary people who gave their lives to to the cause of WW1, a senseless war we should never have been part of. LEST WE FORGET, WW2 happened, we did forget. Don't get this post wrong, it breaks my heart what happened to young men in WW1 and WW2, their belief in right, but used as cannon fodder by Earl Haig in WW1 in a war of attrition. It is very correct, that last night was held, I have no issue with it, but someone sitting beside you, thinking of the sacrifices made and crying all night. Sorry I was not man enough for it. We Must not Forget and always remember what our people not just Hearts people have done to make our life, livable

brownkg
Given the suicide watch following yesterday's Collum inspired shambles I thought I would hunt this out and remind everyone what a great night Friday was and show what one of the organisers is thinking
scott herbertson
I'm not sure I agree with an annual event, but I do think it should be staged again An appropriate time might be in the run up to the 100th anniversary of the Somme, perhaps at the end of the 2015/2016 season. I certainly think the suite of songs, hopefully with Ken Stott's narration interleaved, should be released To me the fact it was the 100th anniversary of the mass sign up at the usher hall gave the event a special poignancy which could not be repeated. I was especially struck by the Hearts under 20 players escorting the VIPs (including my very chuffed mum) upstairs. The thought came to me that had that been 100 years previously they would have been signing away their lives.
Son Of Anarchy
Does anyone think this should be an annual event,? I would certainly attend yearly as it was a fantastic evening but I'd be wary of trivialising its significance, if that's possible?

There was added poignancy becaue of the date, but I'd counter that by saying the story of what young guys experienced during the great war is something that should be told and retold. Friday told the story of a young lad from Leith who volunteered to join McCrae's. The script was excellent, the songs excellent, to me the potential and basis for a theatre show is there. Mikey1874
there are certainly some anniversaries coming in next 5 years or so and respectful commemoration would be good.

The 4 young players were fantastic, polite and very helpful. The seemed to genuinely enjoy their 'duties'. Two of them were on the bench for the Celtic game yesterday. This process id currently ongoing.
