557,618 Scots enlisted in the British army during the Great War.

Of these, more than a quarter ... 26% ... lost their lives. This represented almost 11% of the male adult population in Scotland.

Lest we forget.

That is an incredible stastistic ML and it just makes me angry thinking about it.

Couldn't agree more, it's a staggering statistic and really makes me think what a pointless waste of lives that war was for the young men who perished, regardless of whichever side of the divide they fought for.

We've had a request or two for the links that we posted up on our "offline message" page. We posted links to the Wikipedia entry for McCrae's Battalion and to the home page of the McCrae's Battalion Trust. We also posted a copy of a video we first posted on Youtube for the 90th anniversary of the Armistice in November 2008. All of those are below, along with a link to the Lights Out page on the Royal British Legion website.

Both organisations mentioned in my post above very much need and welcome contributions towards the work that they do. With that in mind, I'm posting links to the donations pages for the Royal British Legion and the McCrae's Battalion Trust.
