Will there ever be world peace?

Many Socialists voted for the national socialists in Germany in 1933 using the same reasoning. That went well

I may be wrong but wouldn't the socialists have been more likely to vote for the Communist Party instead?

As long as there are religions then we will have maniacs killing in 'their' name.

are things getting worse or are we just exposed to it in greater detail due to internet/social media etc. 20 years ago there was no way to report on everything. Nowadays detailed news can reach us within minutes thus making it feel like things are worse than ever

Sure I read there have only been six years of total world peace (i.e. no wars anywhere) since pre-Middle Ages or something.

Watching the news recently has made my realise the world is an extremely depressing/nasty place. I already knew this, but it seems to be getting worse by the day.

Every story seems to be about bombing, terrorism, government corruption, drugs etc. Will it ever stop?

Obviously eradicating silly things such as religion would help, but in terms of political wars/conflicts will such things always exist?

No, there will always be nutters.

It`s always been a myth that WW2 would bring peace to the World once the Allies won. All we done was stop a nutter taking it over.

People look for excuses but simply its down to utter bampots getting a little power , the wrong type of people getting power, and they create havoc.

No. Many Communists didn't battle against the nazis as they saw them as the last vestige of capitalism, ergo should they take control, socialism/ communism would follow. I suppose depending on which side of the wall you ended up on they would be right.

Socials still voted SPD.

The Nazis got their vote from the rural districts, the right wing and lumpen proles.

The Real Maroonblood

No chance. Everyone hates each other.

Have you seen the film crash, where no matter how far down the food chain you go, there's always someone left to pick on or discriminate against? That's the world.

Sometimes Kickback is like that.

No, many voted for the Nationalist Socialist Party, There is no shortage of historical material to support this view. Of course many weren't duped by the false propaganda of the Nazi's. However, the promise of shiny jewels and a a scapegoat to blame for all the worlds ills was a powerful draw for many supposedly educated and principled Germans.

This religion is to blame for everything argument is very tiresome, childish and though there is something worth debating there, largely wide of the mark.

Human greed, lust for power, lack of forgiveness etc are at the heart of conflict. Religion, politics and so forth are just the outlet, the vehicle by which these things are delivered.

So if we can move beyond the infantile arguments this thread has potential.

I mentioned earlier that religion is just the excuse to get backing for going to war. The real reason is nearly always over resources.

Childish and infantile seem a bit harsh mind.

Perhaps but I have had my fill of this nonsense. It is just a shabby excuse to have a dig at people of faith.
