Anyone been and it it a recommended city to visit. Is a few days enough to enjoy the city and how easy is it to get tickets for a football match?

Great city, well worth a visit. Was there for about about a week, 6 years ago. Went to Boca v Cruzeiro, River Plate v San Lorenzo and Boca v River at the Bombonera.

Tickets are fairly easy to come by on the streets outside the ground, there's quite a few shops around town that sell them too from memory.

Boca V River tickets were a bit harder to get as you'd imagine, but the reception staff at our hotel were helpful in arranging ours in the end - just ask around and you should be fine.

Cheers. Did you feel safe wandering around the city center and other parts? it seems to be pretty affluent overrall.

Yeah felt pretty safe, can't remember any dodgy incidents, maybe we were lucky though. Some areas are a bit rougher than others - think La Boca can be dodgy in places. But as long as you stay aware and don't flash cash, cameras around too much you should be fine.

If you go to the Bombonera, we were told it's best to avoid the lower tier as that's where the hardcore Boca fans go and it's not advisable for tourists to go in there. We were absolutely fine in the upper tier.

Cool place, and I have felt safe- been a few times with work. Easy to get to a game- there are got companies that will pick you up at hotel etc. and sort your ticket. Have been to a Boca game (v Independiente) and Argentinos Jrs v River.

The city feels pretty European.

Definitely worth a trip. Paris of the south. 4-5 days should do it. We stayed in the Recoleta district right next to the graveyard where Peron is 'buried' - If you like cats it is a haven. As others have mentioned, ask about tickets for any big games, otherwise I just went along and paid at gate, although this was about 8-10 yrs ago,

Palermo district is (or was) chic with plenty of good cheapish designer gear. Like any big city just be smart at night.

Paris of the south, indeed. Brilliant place. Huge and varied, like Paris or London. Visit Boca Juniors ground on the southside if you get the chance, painted houses in the streets around are unforgetible.

Always wanted to get the hydrofoil to Montevideo on the other side (capital of Uruguay), would be especially good to do that now ...

Is English spoken in parts or would it be wise to learn some Spanish also. Although I believe it differs from the European Spanish language .

Spanish Spanish is fine. But like anywhere, you can get by with just English. Making an effort with the local language is always appreciated, though.
