Thaksin Shinawatra/Romanov

Anyone else feel the situation at Man City is turning in to something pretty similar to our own?

Both initially invested alot in the playing staff and in a new manager and then little sinse, in Citys case where it was obviously needed in January yet seemed to be ignored despite all the claims of a big budget.

Already 3 Thai players signed up and Shinawatra himself at various times has stated he wants to bring more over in the future.

After there best season in years, the best manager the clubs had in years is set to be sacked despite strong and vocal opposition from the support.

And now the entire team is apparently "up for sale".

Charlie-Brown

Shiniwatra has publicly said the entire squad for sale stories are untrue however privately I've no doubt he threatened them with this after their 8-1 defeat / debacle last week.

Didn't Vlad claim similar after we drew the game the players "needed to win"?

Sven's target was top 10, he achieved it but he's still getting sacked.

Burley's target was to split the OF, it was then changed to win the league, we were top when he was sacked.

it is very similar.

It was a Dunfermline game we "needed to win" or the team was up for sale, we drew the game, then Elvis Hartley and Gordon spoke out about the unrest.

Don't think you'll get an argument from this guy.

Thaksin is a megalomaniac and he will destroy Man Citeh.

When you know a little about Square Face you will understand he is a human rights abuser and will stop at nothing to achieve his aims for his own greed and personal benefit and that of his cronies.

Romanov might be a nutter but he's got nothing on this guy.

Wonder if BBC Scotland will stump up the cash for two investigative documentaries into the Man City owner??

Dr Ian Malcolm

Depends on what this guy's next move is. If he brings in equal or better than Sven (Scolari has been banded about) and backs him, then you can't really argue with that, the guy just wants results. Harsh, ruthless and maybe a little unrealistic, but if he's putting his money where his mouth is, hes entitled to be so.

If he does a Vlad and ****es about for the next two years then I'd worry.

As an aside, have any of the Thai players played for City?

As far as I know they are ineligible for work permits as Thailand are not ranked high enough in the FIFA rankings, which is a great irony for us expats that continuously face visa and work permit issues thanks to Thai bureaucracy.

Square Face's only interest in the club is furthering his own ambition both financially and politically in his native Thailand where, in part thanks to the publicity that being the owner of an English Premiership club affords him, he has managed to get his cronies back in power again after the military coup that ousted him.

He's corrupt to the core.

Wanting players to bow to him before kick off just highlights what a little egomaniac the man is.

He's a danger and Citeh fans need to be aware and motivated to remove him whatever the cost.

The British Press has him sussed now and hopefully the pressure of their constant attention will force him out of the club and hopefully the country. At least he is not able to censor the press in the UK, threaten journalists and the media, keep them quiet with lawsuits or even have people 'disappeared' by his Police death squads.

Thaksin och bai! (Thaksin get out!)

To be fair the second documentary was good.

Seems indeed a similar approach to Romanov. Pity poor Man City if this is the case.

Contrast with Man Utd, where the Glasers bought the club then let the management get on with running it. The results speak for themselves.

He never sacked Eriksson after he got them off to their best start in however many years and sitting top of the league just because he wanted to play his love child. He has never also claimed the league is bent and that they would be european champions and besides Eriksson is the biggest fake in football.

Shinawatra comes across a a bit of a dick but Romanov is world heavyweight champion.

IMO Romanov can be compared to no one. He's a pr*ck and a massive liar. End of.

Eriksson is the biggest fake in football.

How exactly do you come to that conclusion that a guy whos won the UEFA Cup and various other trophies with IFK Goteborg, took Benfica to two European finals and won various other trophies, won two European trophies with Lazio and various domestic trophies, and won trophies with both Roma & Sampdoria, is a "fake"?

As a masochist who supports both Hearts & Man City I can see the similaritys , both are owned by megalomaniacs who haven`t a scooby about running a football team. Both teams owners think they know best........well surprise, surprise, they both know brussel sprout about the game , both teams doing well then the owner decides to get rid of the manager , because they are not getting the publicity or credit that the managers are getting.

My view is both chairmen should butt out & leave the choices to the men who know best, having been in the game for many years.

As far as I know, Vlad is not on Amnesty's list as a serial human rights abuser, so "no."
