tian447
Just realised that the dinner tonight cannot contain meat. Anyone got any ideas for something I can make myself, that doesn't taste rubbish like most Vegetarian stuff. Anything with egg is out, so I can't even put anything like Quorn in it to try and fool myself into thinking it's meat. Looking for something fairly simple that tastes decent

The Treasurer
water and a lettuce leaf for the tree huggers and a nice rare steak for the normal humans. Zico
I'm not a veggie but I do make dahl sometimes, it's really good. I'd recommend that or doing something like a mushroom risotto.
The People's Chimp
Use tins of green lentils in place of mince to make lasagne, bolognese, chilli, etc as the lentils keep their bite and texture and are a great replacement.

GlasgoJambo
What about a pilaf? As long as you've got a decent pan and lid they're pretty easy and people always seem impressed.
