Zombie-The Cranberries

They have banned her from singing it and the official excuse is............Its an Irish rebel song!

The good news is that she now wants to pull out the concert in protest. Teacher I spoke to who told me it was a rebel song admitted to never having read the lyrics.

That's ludicrous. Maybe said teacher should read once in a while.

Say What Again

Irish rebel song

Another head hangs lowly,

Child is slowly taken.

And the violence caused such silence.

Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.

In your head, in your head they are fighting,

With their tanks and their bombs,

And their bombs and their guns.

In your head, in your head, they are crying...

In your head, in your head,

Zombie, zombie, zombie,

Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,

In your head,

Zombie, zombie, zombie?

Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...

Another mother's breakin'

Heart is taking over

When the violence causes silence,

We must be mistaken.

It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.

In your head, in your head they're still fighting,

With their tanks and their bombs,

And their bombs and their guns.

In your head, in your head, they are dying...

Set her up with a massive PA on the back of a truck and ruin their shitey concert by blasting the song out so loud they can't hear all the plastic songs the other little shits are singing.

That's absolutely ludicrous. She should pull out and The Shed will back her all the way

You should definitely get her to go into school and tell them that she is going to sing an old Roy Orbison classic.............

Same school that employed that shining example of fairness, Willie Collum.

No, he was one time head of her primary.

Doh, mixing up a current ref with an ex ref.

School phoned today, no mention of it being a rebel song now. Seems its too political now because of the mention of 1916. Meeting the Head tomorrow.

Wonder if they would ban "The Green Fields of France" as well?

Yeah, they could have a picture with bikerjambo's daughter holding her guitar and looking sad with him in the background, arms folded and frowning on the couch. It'd be great.

Banned from assaulting everyone's ears being the by product of this swingeing attack on our fundamental freedoms.

Just checked the song on YouTube as hadn't heard it in ages.

Decent tune.

Anyway, a comment left 25 mins ago;

"Up the RA from England"

you should ask them if they would ban any performances of Romeo and Juliet?

Endorsing a play where some 14 year olds meet and within days they've pumped, married, murdered then committed suicide? Aye, pimp that one out to the kids. To answer the question yes, "Zombie" by The Cranberries is a good song.

After todays meeting with the Head its not rebel music any longer, its back to being political again which isn't allowed. He wouldn't even consider a compromise of Kay's to change the offending (in his eyes) lyrics.

They've agreed to allow her to sing the Levellers choon Beautiful Day which they've vetted and its ok.

So the 5th November, lighting the fuse this time, revolution and Guevara are not political but 1916 is?

What a badword oddball school.

Beautiful Day is the arsehole of the world when it comes to songs.

It certainly is the most commercial thing the Levellers have ever done but the political content of most of their other stuff would rule them out at school plus most folks wouldn't have heard of them.

But "arsehole of the world" when we have manufactured boy/girl "bands"? Have a word

You can fit a lot of music in the arsehole of the world. Room for more than one song/artist.

ps

The Monkeys were great.

She should still try and offend them though by playing the opening chord of Zombie/Derry's Walls/Penny Arcade, just for shits and giggles.
