BigMDV
Not seen this mentioned, everyone talking about Sky. ESPN get 30 games (half) and are a seperate sports channel in their own right have they said anything on the issue? Taking into account they are not being given any premiership games after 2012/13 season, is there a chance they could take over the full SPL contract from 12/13 onwards? William H. Bonney
Would be interested to know what percentage of money espn pay to the spl.
Alwaysinourshadows
Didn't someone post on here that ESPN said they will not pull out the deal?
BigMDV
Would be interested to know what percentage of money espn pay to the spl. Plus remember, ESPN never had the rights to show any 'old firm' games

ESPN said a few days back, think it may have been on the stv site but dont quote me on that, that they want to continue showing Scottish games as they enjoy the partnership. Im sure it was someone who works WITH ESPN who said it. All the scaremongering comes from sources "close to" or "ex employees".. Basically anyone who has subscribed who wants to be doom and gloom about it, they've asked, anyone who says they WILL renew has been ignored... colinmaroon
Merge please mods... Good grief! The forum police were on this one quick, eh! Posting on the HUGE thread, I was just thinking that the TV situation should really have it's own thread. So, mods, please don't merge. EDIT: Oops! Sorry! I see there is another TV thread and, therefore, in the manner of the footballing authorities, I'm doing a U-turn and saying: Mods please merge with the other TV thread. Jingle Bells
The Sky deal is not a very good deal but I suppose better than nothing. I noted today that Lineaker's and Hansen's combined salary is ?3m pa from the BBC, which is the same amount they are paying the SFA/SPL to provide TV highlights coverage for the whole of Scottish Football each season. The sooner that SPL TV is set up to at least provide some competition for TV rights, the better.
Pants Shaton
Remember when there was no SKY deal in the early part of the 00s and the BBC televised live games? Remember how football as we know it ceased to exits?
Victorian
Remember when there was no SKY deal in the early part of the 00s and the BBC televised live games? Remember how football as we know it ceased to exits? yes but the 'armageddonists' of scottish football would quickly counter that argument by insisting that all the other 'commercial partners' ( formally known as sponsors ) have entered into their involvements with scottish football on the basis of the exposure they get through live televised matches. perhaps neil concaster might like to quantify the effect on this segment of commercial income by way of one of his 'estimates'.
