The Sweeney.

Timeless, PC-less and for the scene with Jack Regan sh*gging a bird with a German helmet on (her head that is) a shining example to the namby -pamby don'tupsetanygroup society we live in now.

Say What Again

When I was younger I used to love TJ Hooker - but I think that probably had a lot to do with Stacy (Heather Locklear) :loved:

The Shield is an amazing cop show.

I'll second Mr Dassler's suggestion that The Wire is the best show ever to grace the small screen. Get yourself onto a site with latest american tv........ you wont be disappointed.

Dempsey & Makepeace

Makepeace - my first ever proper crush. I really really fancied her. Alot.

And Spender was decent - another one with the OP!

Homicide: Life on The Street is the best cop show. Easily the best acted, best written and with the best storylines.

For pure comedy genius Police Squad as well!

Drew Busby !

And another vote for NYPD Blue.

When they strung out Bobby Simones tragic hospital death over 3 episodes, I was bubbling like bairn by the end. Sad but true :o

Honourable mention for Law and Order. Great format ... 30 minutes of cops and robbers, 30 minutes of legal wizardry by the prosecuting attornys, in particular Sam Waterston.

PS todays movie trivia ... Waterston is half-Scottish http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/contributor/1800026008/bio

"Father: George Chychele Waterston. directed Waterston in a production of "Antigone"; emigrated to the United States from Leith, Scotland during the Depression"

Z Cars, spent many happy hours patrolling Niddrie Mains Terrace etc to the tune of Z cars being whistled or sung at me. Even the bookies watchers used to whistle the theme when the polis appeared giving the bookie time to hide the lines.

I thought Spender was class, I think Jimmy Nail nutted a bad guy every episode. I'm still waiting for it to come back. If I recall correctly it ended with his wife getting blown up whilst they were on a "possibly getting back together" date. I want to see him get his revenge, which would probably include twatting them with a brick and then kicking them in the nuts when they were down. His wee sidekick Stick was hilarious too.

Apart from that The Professionals and if it counts as a cop show 24, they're not cops so I suppose it doesn't, but then CI5 weren't strictly cops either.

When Sipowicz had the vision of Bobby's ghost in the locker room in one of the later episodes, there was a tear in my eye too.

NYPD Blue is, without doubt, my favourite TV programme of all time - absolute genius. That is the last TV show I have ever actually made a point of watching.

A bobby on the beat. To our younger members that is when police use to walk the streets.

If it happened now it would be like the second coming.

Really? Wow, that certainly wasn't what I was getting at. Thanks for bringing me up to speed on that one.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned The Shield.

Vic Mackey up to his usual tricks.....bending the law to uphold it...using the small time criminals to take out the majors, and making a healthy profit on the side....sheer brilliance!

Good call. Lots of good looking female officers in NYPD Blue.

Personal favourite was Kirkendall (Andrea Thompson)

Possibly something deep in my psyche about being wrestled to the ground and handcuffed by a powerful and good looking female officer. Or something like that
