But it got me thinking - what have been people's best summer jobs - from when they were at School, Uni or just dossing around! Have to say the hours are shocking but the money + tips is good, especially when you get paid for all the overtime at the end, think i made about ?4000 in two and a half months (being a student and not getting taxed is great!) The other people working there are a good laugh too, although they only really stay about 3-6 months unless they are on placement or chefs. They have staff accommodation too which is great for socialising (or getting wasted) after work! Probably not the best job ever but I enjoyed it enough to go back twice. I think we kept the bar open until about 6am because we were told they would not close up until we were ready to leave! It was amazing - All on the grooms account! I think we kept the bar open until about 6am because we were told they would not close up until we were ready to leave! It was amazing - All on the grooms account! Not that I remember - It was a VERY classy affair - it was a mates dad who was getting married and he is a bit minted - so we took full advantage, was in May. Obviously not the one i was thinking of then. One of the weddings in July there was a big fight to do with the best man and one of the bridesmaids or something. Caused quite a lot of gossip. That, however, was not a particularly classy affair - bunch of chavs! Don't think i started until June, would probably know the people who were serving you though! If it was a private function room then almost definitely, although your mates dad probably had to pay them quite a lot to do it. Those of us that had not passed out retired there for brandy and cigars (classy) about 4.30 and were promptly told to put them out! But they kept it open for us until around 6 - so we signed for hefty tips for all the staff still there. Top night but I dont think I could handle working hours like that. They would probably be quite happy if they got good tips out of it though, and they were still being paid. I never worked in The Bar so never had to deal with anything quite that bad, think the worst i ever did was 4am on New Years Day, but they let us all have 'a glass' of champagne at midnight and all the guests were pretty much drunk by then anyway so we were just having a laugh with them.
