After Pallardos' show last night I was thinking about some of the best midfielders I have seen at Tynie in the last 35 odd years.

Here's my list:

Tommy Murray

John Stevenson

Ralph Callachan

Eamonn Bannon

Gary Mackay

Thomas Flogel

Julien Brellier

Rudi

Paul Hartley

Colin Cameron

Have I missed any other gems?

In my time watching Hearts

Cameron

I was heartbroken when Cameron left. Proper man love for him.

Carl Fredrickson

A player that splits opinion but one of my favourites was Derek Ferguson.

My favourite midfield trio that played together would be Cameron, Fulton and Salvatori. They complemented each other and know each others strengths and weaknesses.

What about the " buzzbomb " drew busby ?

My favourite Hearts player of all time but I always classed him as a forward.

You scored through Gary Mackay and Julien Brellier for Neil McFarlane?

Toxteth O'Grady

you could rename this thread to "julien Brellier: Good or not?" now if you want to save the bother later.

Not for me, I would class him as an extra defender really, he did his job but did he ever cross the halfway line?

Got to do it in the SPL next season before judgement can be passed. After watching the filth game today. I think we can finish top 6 and more next season

Hearts Heritage

Is 'midfielder' a Post 1960 thing?

Dave MacKay and John Cumming were 'half backs' but provided the 'engine room' in Hearts' most successful period.
