fingers finest
I popped along to watch the training today, was very impressed with paulo he was very hands on and after a 20 min talking to the players his assistant took over for the warm up then paulo took over a lot of 2 touch passing high tempo stuff, the wingers got a bit of a earbashing on a few occasions mainly temps mostly reguarding his decision making also sutton came under a fair bit of constructive criticism. Suso was full training and said he should be ready next week.taouil said he is a week or 2 away Lethargic(obua) was mainly doing light jogging Elliot was in full training and was looking sharp as did gordon smith, robinson looked good in cm No sign of KK and judas All in all i was impressed by what i saw
johnjl
I've never watched them train so this may be a stupid question or difficult to answer. How were the players reacting to him? Does Ps seem to command their respect or was there a wee bit dissent in the ranks ?

Does Ps seem to command their respect or was there a wee bit dissent in the ranks ? I watched training a few times under jj and there was quite a lot of banter amongst the players, that was evident again today but noot as much they all seemed to get their head down and get stuck into training,a few of the players who he spoke to sutton, temps, suso driver all seemed to listen to what he had to say and appeared to try harder. From what i saw there was a good spirit,PS impressed me a lot with his hand on approach and he is very vocal,he has a presence about him and i think if he doesnt already have the squads respect he soon will do. PauloSergioBentoBrito
Will we ever see.... Kello Hammill Webster Zaliukas Grainger Templeton Skacel Quality new centre mid. Driver Kyle Sutton With two T's, suso, novikovas, new centre back, stevo etc etc all on the bench? I think without injurys and 3ish quality new signings we have the potential to be up there with the old firm

There's plenty effort going in but little forward progress.

Kramer
I'm sure Sutton's running style is not any different from last season when he scored 17 goals. A bit of patience and decent service and he'll score goals.

Jambof3tornado
Haha cant believe that Suttons running style is being criticised. We had Nade not moving at all for a few seasons!!! Gregory House M.D.
Sounds good. Were there any players visibly struggling with the passing drills? Hopefully they've all got the hang of it! Do you think Paulo was impressed with Gordon Smith and have histraining performances been enough that we could see him start Tomorrow?

swavkav
why is it we play 2 touch? , to me 2 touch is just trap & pass (rush football) the big clubs all over europe teach 3 touch as it gives the player more time on the ball & more time to think who he will pass to, or if he wants to run a few yards with the ball before passing/shooting, 2 touch is a british thing so my Eufa A licensed coach keeps telling us ( us being the coaches trying to become english level 2 coaches) & he dont know why or understand why its still used in training for any team, as in his words "its for teams too scared to play possesion football" just my 2 pennys worth. & thanks to the OP for the update. I think you'll find a lot of the passing drills were 2 touch today. control. pass. move. control. pass. move. That is entirely different from bounce game situations where '2 touch' is implemented and thus certainly different from the '2 touch' of last year. In my opinion. soonbe110
Two touch is the Arsenal way and they have been playing the best football in Britain for a few years. They even time how long between a players first and second touches. The aim is for the shortest possible time between first and last ie second touch. Players get rested (dropped) if their time drops from game to game. Barca play the same game but at an even higher level. If we get anywhere near I'll be delighted. robbo1874
2,3 touch. Its also as important what you do when you dont have the ball. What angles you make for your team mates. We don't seem to make runs/take up space off the ball to allow us to play a sharp passing game. I suppose that's where the coach earns his wages. It's not going to happen overnight. Fans will have to show a level of patience.

Troon Jambo
Always seems to me that when hearts are playing teams that have better players, it seems that the opposing team had more players? I guess this is because really good teams play the ball and then move forward. Very quickly there are a whole team of players moving in unison up the pitch and making a new space for themselves. Poor teams/players find a comfortable space and make it their home! I guess it seems that good teams "swarm" the opposition. Gives much to the total football ideal that all players can play in each position and even the goalie is viewed as an attacker when his team has the ball. With our squad, we should be able to excel in this style as we have players who can actually beat a man making this style all the more effective. Maybe we lack enough players to make a forward pass? Thoughts?
