Paksis were awful

We will never get that much time on the ball playing any other team, especially in the SPL.

They flattered us.

We were good, and deserved a good win.

But we didn't suddenly become awesome - lets not get carried away.

Not meant to be a 'doom' post - just seems as fans people revel deeply in the wins and as a result the reality of the draws and losses are hard to take.

A bit of realism would be good.

A cracking win against poor opposition.

They had one or two players who looked decent but they were not great. Sprayed it around and found big gaps at times on the right however, which is a concern.

Job done professionally and well done Hearts.

Amen, it was like a training match second half.

Good for us to get some goals but much tougher games to come.

Yes they were and we should have beat them in the first leg as well.

Still you can only beat who they put out in front of you, unless you are the Huns.

Their goalscorer looked a decent player - a couple of stone ago.

Most of their players looked fairly technical but overall they were too soft, poor passers and didn't press us enough.

Does this mean we would walk the hungarian league then? Some of their players looked good on the ball but not a fighter in their entire team from what i could see.

How much trouble their big guy up front caused us is a concern, a half-decent team would've scored a few goals against us tonight.

They were dire but lets not forget that we can only play what's put in front of us!

Job done. Roll on the draw.

Missed the interview - but glad to hear it.

Good to know he is a realist.

Not to disrespect JJ so soon after this week (but the coincidence in timing is noted)his first interview after the cup loss to Motherwell - he said we played well - when we were bloody dreadful.

Saying one thing to try and keep spirits up is one thing - but blatant fabrications to avoid admitting the truth ain't helping anyone.

PS seems to have got a grasp on things so far - which can only be a good thing.

We won, lets not over analyse. Is it peculiar to Hearts fans that we cant see the positives without tempering it with bullshit. HHGH

What level would folk say Paksi were compared to teams in Scotland ?

Depends, how you're comparing them.

I think they deserve a bigger fan base than they have.

Impressive tonight, but we will only know the full potential of our new look team till about another 10 games in.

A few of their attacks through the middle were quite impressive involving neat one touch passes. They looked dangerous from that, nothing else though.

I thought they had one or two players who were good and the rest of their team was average, with the goalie being poor. Thought the wee midfielder with the yellow boots think he was no 22, was a cracking player and could do a job for us.

+1 to this

I have sat in G for Many years and when you look along the stand you can see the lack of enthusiasm outside of G, Section N are the only other section than seems to show interest in getting behind the team, everyone else just sits on there arse unless hearts are at least 2-0 up

Didn't see the game, listened to the game ,well most of it up until Rudi came on,(fell asleep,I've got a virus, thats why I'm on here as much)sounded like after a pretty shaky start by the defence we gave them a bit of a going over once Driver got his passing range.

Was their much difference, would it have been the same outcome had JJ still been at the helm, serious questions?

Wow - that's a toughy...I think we would have still won, but maybe not as comfortably.

You can tell PS has asked them to play a passing, possession game.

The ball spent a lot of time going across the back 4. Far less getting hoofed up the park aimlessly.

Another point to consider is that the team themselves are not used to playing this way - you could tell that they were often surprised to get so much room. They reacted as if a player would be on top of them immediately....even if there wasn't.

We got away with a makeshift defense - prob cos the team didn't realise that Mrowiec and Eggy are NOT our first choice CB's. other teams would not be so naive and make us pay.

Good signs of more passing play, but it'll have to improve to ever work against SPL teams.

You're absolutely right. Every time Kello had the ball to throw/kick out you could see Sergio telling McGowan and Grainger to almost stand 2 yards from the touch line.

I agree with the OP but nevertheless, I'm still more than happy to lap up all this "Hearts done good" stuff today and bask in the kind of feeling that doesn't come along often enough for us at the moment. People are saying nice things. It's quite odd.

What's even more odd is the extent to which some of the journalists have gone to express how good this result was and how well Hearts have done. Eh? Well, yes...it's good that we've progressed and everything but you'd have serious questions asked of you if you were unable to move past a team like that. They were bloody awful. But hey, we should take it where we can get it....praise doesn't come along all that often I suppose....

And by the way, it's not Paksis...it's Paks....or Paksi SE...

Just being pernickety. :)

Cheers,so as I thought,it will take a few games to see if PS can change things for the better,I take it that team were just a tad crappie to determine if we are up to it or not?

We wouldn't have won as comfortably and it would not have been such a relaxed affair. I reckon JJ's team talk would have been a lot different to PS's. Going in to the second half with a 2-0 lead I think JJ would ask the players to hold on to that lead. Sit back, defend, ride it out. PS was raging that we sat back at 4-0. That's an attitude I like. He wants to continually attack.

Had JJ been at the helm I think they would have scored a bit earlier, 2-1 going in to the last few minutes would have been major squeaky bum time. Fortunately that wasn't the case.

Yep - im happy with the changes, but we might have to put up with them not being to effective until the team can evolve into them.

Paksi were so poor we looked like we are a solid passing team (even with a few horror mistakes) SPL teams wont give us this luxury.

But I hope we continue with this approach, I think in the long run it'll be more attractive and successful.

Once again I thank you, seems a very fair and not an OTT assessment, lets all hope we can progress as a team but still think that 3rd is probably the best we can do (not trying to put a downer on anything, just can't see us regularly challenging for the league title up till the last weeks every season).
