How do You Spend the 12th of July?

I see that Kickback is in full flow today with its usual range of topical discussions.

But according to my calendar, it is the 12th of July.

If our friends in the West (not to mention Mr English, and a fair few Hibs fans) are to be believed, we should all be out marching with our sashes and bowler hats on.

But no, here we all are, politely passing the time of day.

Better get back to work............

Sitting in the shade, with a cold beer, or 2 before entering the 120 in the sun. It's s hard life, and before you ask? I'm happy to do it.

I just marched past a couple of Celtic fans in the office pretending to play the flute to annoy them. It worked. :-)

I've been whistling The Sash all morning. It's a catchy number, always good to hear others joining in too.

Pretending to play an imaginary flute while whistling "The Sash" does not have the same affect in the Middle East as it would down Kerrydale Street. whistling.gifwhistling.gifwhistling.gif

Now if it was "To lash my Father's whore" rolleyes.gif

Despite its obvious Orange symbolism, the Battle of the Boyne was a watershed in British history arguably sealing parliamentary authority over the monarchy. Again arguably, but could be seen as Britain's 4th of July or Bastille Day.

having a quiet evening here in Cairns

and now that it's brought to my attention

it's the 12th !

maybe it's not that important ???

it's often difficult to try and understand history

powerful people using racism and religious prejudice for their own ends

couldn't be still going on centuries later ?

Shamelessly stolen from "It's Only An Excuse", back when it was still funny...

"Oh aye... 1960... Battle of The Bulge... the cry was No Remember!"
