Was thinking about taking my daugther wild camping at glen etive next to glencoe in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if anyone has camped there and knew if there was any restrictions on tents ect as we have a 4 man tent

i have camped at glen etive twice with a fairly big tent (3-4 person). there's a few good spots by the river

it's always wet, but given what this (every) summer is like then it'll be wet everywhere in scotland

Could anyone also suggest places that are decent for wild camping

The guidelines are in the pdf above.

I normally only wild camp a good distance from roads in order to shorten the next day's route up hills that would otherwise be a fairly strenuous day (I'm getting older), but it's perfectly legal to camp close to them. If you're heading down Glen Etive, you should find plenty of places, not least down by the loch. Be aware that the Glen Coe/Glen Etive area has acquired a bit of a reputation for break-ins to cars parked by the roadside, though.

Glen Etive is perfect - get there early to get a decent spot - it's always busy thumbsup.gif

Noticed a lot of people camping at the side of the road here on the back road down to Innerleithen any time I've driven or cycled past over the years: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=innerleithen&hl=en&ll=55.661199,-3.056645&spn=0.019294,0.038581&sll=55.987339,-2.744269&sspn=0.019133,0.038581&t=h&z=15

Some good resources on wild camping in Scotland here too: http://camping.uk-directory.com/camping_scotland.php

Yip - Leithen Water has a few wild campers. Another good area in the Borders is here: Map

Head down the A703 to Eddleston and turn right. There's even a toilet block thumbsup.gif

Area is the Meldon Hills.
