Radio Ga Ga
Having a chat with the Mrs last night and got talking about us not having a will in place and although we are cash poor we are relatively asset rich between our house and pension pot (?500k plus) Has anybody had a will drawn up recently and, if so, who can you recommend and the rough cost ? It will be a relatively straight forward affair, leave everything to each other then our son when we have both gone to meet our maker.
jkbam
We got ours done at the Skipton Building Society last year, think it was @ ?100, popped in for 30mins to get the details down then came back a couple of weeks later to check it and sign it. All relatively pain free.

mrmarkus1981
Davdis Johnson Solicitors (Edinburgh) will usually write you a will and all they ask is that you make a donation to the sick kids hospital

It will cost more than a Will writing company, but that is the best way of ensuring that the Will does what you want it to do. The actual cost of a Will can range from around ?100 upwards. The question you have to ask yourself is how much care is going to be given to the preparation of your Will if the person doing the job is getting nothing or next to nothing for it? The Will itself costs very little to prepare, it's the advice surrounding it that costs the money. As an aside, your pension pot is not something to deal with in your Will - the value is (or should be) outside your estates.

Legislation changes. As for you pension, consider a spousal bypass trust for any death benefits.
