Andrew Driver

Look lets give him a good pre season and hope he is over his worries.

Those who are for some unknown reason trying to belittle the player and his attitude should know better.

We as a club have invested a lot of time and energy in him but he has also worked hard to get fit and his original injury was hard to diagnose -- recent injury is just one of those things and he will be back. He could not train 100% and we never saw the real Andy Driver !

He has all the talent -- time for him to get a bit of luck to fulfill his potential -- if he has a good start to the season don't expect him to be here long -- enjoy it while you can.

To be fair, I think he has bulked up a lot and looks like he has put on too much bulk/muscle to be a pacy winger.

Time to dispel the myth about footballers being too bulked up to be fast!!

ALL olympic sprinters are balanced in their upper/lower body strength because thats where the raw speed comes from, most wingers in football are over developed in the legs compared to their upper bodies which is one of the main causes of hamstring pulls etc!

Andy has suffered a bad quadricep tear which is very psychologically damaging for a speed merchant and all we can hope for is that he stays fit and he will get back to being a top player!

Could do with losing a few stone. :o

That looks like tone as opposed to bulk, to me.

Then again, I haven't seen Andy Driver naked for a while, so can't really compare.

Wyness_is_a_leg_end - Does Andy look like this in the buff?

I agree with all of this, I think some people have forgotten how good the boy was before he start picking up injuries! One thing I will say, and I hope it's because he is not fit, but he was slow as feck against killee! Can't remember the defender, but the ball was play thru to andy and he had at least 10-15 yards on the player but he still didn't not get near it! Maybe the bulking up has gone ott a bit. I'm more than willing and hoping to see the best of andy next year!

Or maybe, just maybe the hernia he has/had stopped him from getting up to full speed?

Thats why I said hopefully it was caused because of his injury. Maybe did not come across to clear on my post

He's been injured for 2 seasons and just before that did enough to play for England under 21s. Are you suggesting he had a bad run of form when fit?

No when fit he is a good player no denying that but the problem is he is hardly ever fit.

Now whether that is his fault or not it still does not detract from the fact that he has hardly kicked a ball for us in two seasons.

Think of the abuse levelled at Panilla for something similar.

One of the best players in the league and has been a great player for the Hearts. He's got a lot to prove in terms of his ability to hack the pace in a full league season after his injuries, though. Some of the comments about him here and elsewhere have been a joke. The guy deserves a break from Little Bit O Lady Bit O Luck (© Yogi Hughes) and some support from us.

Hoping to see him back to his best come August.

He will become a GREAT player for hearts when he can play week after week month after month without becoming injured.I somehow dont think we will ever see that.

Driver was ridiculously fit (not match fit though) before coming back from his op. In fact he did his hernia from over doing it in the gym. Problem lies in him not being able to train on astroturf and no reserve league so couldn't get his sharpness back when the snow hit.

He'll be back...

Ive got a feeling we have seen the best of him :(

UNLESS he does a power of work preseason to shed a couple of stone. Looked a shadow of himself when he returned.

Does he fit into Jefferies plans?

Shed a couple of stone? You are joking of course?

When Driver first broke into the team and for quite a while after I remember people saying he was too lightweight to make it. He bulks up and people still moan!

This is a big season for andy driver in my opinion. He has been out for a while and while i think he is looking good with his extra bulk he has to make sure he does,nt lose his pace as i think there is nothing better than watching him at full pace running at full backs. I also hope he has worked on his right foot.

Least season was one to forget for Andy, but I'm sure this year he'll be back to his electric best. He just needs a run of games to get his confidence back. With the squad being so strong now there is no need to rush him back. We'll have great options on the wings next year when everyone is fit: Driver, Temps, Suso and Novikovas; with Rudi and Elliott (amongst others) able to play there as well...

It's looking good B)

I am amazed by some of the idiots on this thread, do any you know "the true story" of why Driver has not been performing when playing????? Doubt any of you do to be quite honest, so, let me fill you negative guys in on a little info shall I??? Driver was meant to go for his hernia in early March, Driver requested he go for the operation then, but everyones beloved JJ gave him "no option" but to see out the season before going for the operation, he was in a lot of pain in his groin/hernia area which restricted him from running and kicking the ball, everytime he ran or kicked the ball he got the sharp pain. Everyone wanna get off his back now you know the truth???

Oh, and I'm prepared for any smart arse replies, how do I know this info?? BECAUSE I KNOW ANDREW PERSONALLY UNLIKE YOU GUYS!!!!

Cheers for the info - no need to get upset about it however.

As you know him UNLIKE US GUYS, I felt the need to shout that bit, can you update us on his progress for this season, that would be far more helpful to this thread than your opening rant.

Thanks.

lets judge him over a season, not half a season and see if he can return to his best.

personally i felt jj rushed him back to quickly as it was clear he still had niggling injuries.

Drivers goes to DL's himself. He's put on a lot of weight (muscle wise) and looking alot bigger on the top half of his body.

Its hardly looking good when he is STILL injured, hasnt done any kind of pre-season training and hasnt kicked a ball of any note for getting on for two years.

I doubt we'll see him before October at the earliest and even that might be to soon.

He'll never be the player he was or reach the potential he had IMO.

I reluctantly agree.

Great player and laddie and no question over his input etc. The thing is he's a injury magnet, we just never have him on the park playing at full fitness anymore. He's always at different stages of injury/recovery and never fine.

When we stupidly made him play through the injury at the end of the season, we were told that it wasn't a big deal and he'd be fine. My personal opinion is that we gave him a run out to see if he could cope without having more surgery as this surgery was career threatening. Now, I know that is a huge leap, and I assure you that this is in no way an "in the know" post, it's just my gut feeling.

I, like you, do not think we will see him any time soon.

Feel sorry for Andy. Mind some complete arsehole giving him dogs abuse one of the last games of the season when he was clearly unfit, he just turned round and looked at the supporter like he was a piece of shit.

Thought the latest injury and operation was a double hernia. If thats the case it wont be career threatning but have to agree dont think we will seem any time soon. <_<
