Absolute shocker for Cardiff.

Doing their best to bottle promotion yet again.

So unless there is an absolute 2nd half miracle then Norwich only need to win one game from Pompey away and Coventry at home.

They are up.

Lawson will be grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

Lawson's still very nervous.

1. If there's one manager in the game capable of throwing away a three goal lead in the second half, it's Mowbray. In fact, if Cardiff pull one back early, you'd almost put your house on it.

2. If Cardiff do lose, Norwich's game away to Portsmouth remains very tough. They beat us 2-0 at Carrow Road, and our record against all three relegated clubs is poor. If we miss the chance tonight, how would we then react in the final game of the season against Coventry, a bogey side for us for many decades?

It's not over yet.

So if this result stands, Norwich will have to win one of their final two games or draw both (assuming Cardiff don't win by 3 goals or more in their final game)

Who are Cardiff against in their final game?

Away to Burnley. Difficult - but if they're 3rd but still in with a shout, Cardiff can relax, and the pressure will reverse onto Norwich.

In 2002, Wolves blew a huge advantage over West Brom for automatic promotion, losing out on the final day. So it was into the play-offs, and a never-to-be-forgotten meeting with 6th placed Norwich.

The Super Yellas won the first leg 3-1; then survived a modern day reprisal of the Alamo to scramble through with a 1-0 defeat at Molineux. And at the final whistle, some Wolves fans unfurled a large banner, which read:

YOU'VE LET US DOWN AGAIN.

Think of it: they'd have to have written the banner before the game! Some fans, eh? Dave Jones must wonder what he's done to deserve similar nonsense at his current club.

Party time at Carrow Road on Saturday - and I've got a ticket.

Can I be the first to start a 'Stephen Hughes to the Jambos' rumour as I'm sure he'll be surplus to requirements. Cheeky bid for Stevie Smithh too?

Shaun,

When you've stood on the terracing at Dens Park, as I did, on 3/5/86, you're allowed to be as negative as that.

But for a relative youngster like you - come on! (As Delia might say)

Not that I dared respond until now, mind you
