I've saved a load of stuff into a personal folder in Outlook which I was accessing just a few minutes ago.

I've gone back to chack for an email and noticed the folder is no longer ther (severe panic setting in).

Any suggestions for how to find it/restore it ?

Edit : Mods please move to the IT sticky.

Do a search, including hidden system files for

*.pst

that should find the archive of your outlook personal folders.

Once you have found that file you can just go to

File - Import & export

and import the file back into outlook.

Don't do this yet.

Sounds like you have accidentally moved it into another folder.. This is easily done if you hold the left mouse button on it for too long, it works the same as moving an e-mail into a folder.

check all the other folders first, and you might find it in there! Probably the one above where it usually is!

They sometimes hide behind one of your other folders. There is usually a small icon behind inbox or whatever. Trying clicking on them all

Sheriff Fatman

Click file > archive

There will be a text box that tells you where it is stored (if you archive automatically), if not it should be under file > data file management.

If your .pst files are getting close to 2 gig either split it or start a new one. People use .pst files as a file management system but they aren't really designed for that and can corrupt if over 2 gig.

my email address's are with virgin media and hotmail which i get through outlook but i can also login to both sites and all my mail is there even ones i've deleted from outlook.

it's actually a bit of a pain as well as a saviour because theres limits on how much space your allowed so i have to go in and delete loads every now and then.
