Craig Brown on the radio says that Aberdeen are going to be signing a EPL first team player on loan on Sunday after he has played in the FA Cup on Saturday:

Anyone have any idea? EPL teams in the FA cup this Saturday are Everton, Chelsea, Villa, Blackburn, Birmingham, Bolton, Wigan and Man Utd.

I'm guessing maybe Barry Bannan.

Brown has them getting results and I can see them rising up the table as the season goes on. Fortunately their start to the season means there is no way they could catch us.

Caldwell?

Or McArthur, not really has a game at Wigan I'm sure? Can't see villa loaning out bannan, he's been one of their better players this season

This whole loan signing thing is a bugbear of mine. Short term fixes which do nothing to improve the game up here. The only people benefitting are the owning clubs and the players themselves. What is the point of a youth system if the youngsters are not promoted through (if they are not good enought then they have to be moved on).

Emergency loans for goalkeepers is the only exception I would make.

Why should you be allowed to loan a goalie instead of promoting a youth keeper through then?

Don't think it'll be a Scot (although I may be wrong).

Nothing wrong with loan signings.

Player turnover is so great anyway, that it doesn't really matter whether they are loaned or signed. They'll still (in 70% of the cases) be gone at some point next season.

Why would a team loan a guy out who is getting games for the first team? Weird.

Howdy Doody Jambo

Why would a first team EPL player want to go to Aberdeen on loan dry.gif

Maybe because he is from the North East and needs to go home for personal reasons or maybe he just likes sheep

The goalkeepers may all be injured, does happen from time to time and goalkeeper is a specialist position

Hearts of Vladland

After his performance for United the other night, I really hope it is Darron Gibson! :P

From what I have heard, probably BS, it is Obertan.

Can't see Obertan leaving Man U for The Dandies can you?!

I've heard it's Alan Judge from Blackburn and Ryan Tunnicliffe from Man U

I'd guess at it being a Man U player as they are away to Southampton so are therefore more likely to play more fringe players

He wouldn't necessarily be a first team player.

Very few EPLteams play their all their first team players in the FA Cup.Used to blood fringe and reserve players

Say What Again

Jason Lowe.

Stunning.

Scottish football rocked to the very core.

Aberdeen should complete the loan signing of Blackburn Rovers teenager Jason Lowe at the start of next week.

Lowe will feature for Blackburn in their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Aston Villa on Saturday before heading north to complete the deal.

So I'm guessing it is him.

Maybe Obertan has yet to pass a medical?

I can only dream of the day that we have a manager with contacts to pull of signings like that.

i know jason and he can only enhance aberdeen.would have been a good signing for the jambos.his grandad ran a team in leigh that none other than super wayne foster played for when he was a young boy.jason plays in midfield, but has played right back.has been at blackburn for a few years and played for the reserves last year.this year he was added to the first team squad and played against QPR in the FA cup.then he came on against chelsea in prem league and gave a good account of himself marking lampard.has got good passing ability and good stamina.told him he will need some bloody good thermals up there if he goes.

Yea, it annoys me as well. There should be a rule that says you can only loan in one player who is foreign per season and any other loans need to be from your home nation.

Dundee United and Motherwell (and us tbf)have, over the last few season, really benefited from signing loan players from outwith Scotland. Surely all this does is reduce the chance of Scottish players making it through the ranks.

The removal of the reserve league was a calculated attack on Scottish football. I wonder who was behind that :verymad:
