Once We were Heros

Road House

Rise of the Footsoldier

Must see violent films - just watched all three over the last few days.

Any other suggestions in the same genre?

Yep, that's why I took the name out. Don't think people would want to know about it, just reading the wikipedia page is bad.

I thought American Psycho was decent, pretty violent too.

Not a patch on some of the violence in the book though. That was brutal.

I'm assuming it is a film about a country from the Balkans region of the world?

Yes, starring Michael Palin. :whistling:

I read American Psycho as a lifestyle guide. After all, a bold-striped shirt calls for solid-colored tie. One of a number of top pieces of advise from Mr Bateman.

What film is that? You should stick it in the porn thread in the pub. A few lamb/ham shank up close types who post on here would probably be into it.

Johanes de Silentio

Wolf Creek. All the scarier for being completely believable.

Is that the one set in the Australian outback? ******* horrible!

BoJack Horseman

To the OP, how violent are we talking? Ichi the Killer is a good starting point. We can work up from there.

That's the one. I travelled around Oz (just a wee bit) a few years ago and it is all just so feasible. It's supposed to be based on a mish-mash of various "disappearances" and murders.

Yup - and I agree - that's exactly what makes it terrifying.

Never seen Salo. Although from what I've heard it actually has some artistic merit. The same can't be said for A Serbian Film, it's just shock filmmaking for the sake of shock filmmaking.

Apparently it does. I never got that from it though. Cannibal Holocaust is another one.

BoJack Horseman

I bought a copy of this for my library.

It's had a remarkable issue rate...:o

Jesus, really? Maybe the arty farty types? I found it incredibly dull. Couldn't sit through it start to finish and it was nothing to do with the violence. Obviously what shocked someone in the 70s isn't so shocking now.

Have you watched it?

Arty farty types - LOL.

I get to buy a whole host of foreign language films as languages is one of the areas I cover so sometimes they are recommended by the academics other times I just buy what i like (e.g. Solaris the Tarkovsky original Russian, even though we don't teach Russian).

I also bought this (by mistake) not realising it was what it was...

She Killed in Ecstasy

No, not watched Salo...not yet. Once my depravity levels rise I may give it a blast.

Do you mean Once Were Warriors? If not, watch that. Violent, and brilliant.

Ye - I was going to type, 'Jake the Mus is such a hero and a d*ck at the same time' but didn't and got it all muddled up.

Believe it.

It's honking. That goon who was in Eastenders performance is a particular lowlight.

The one that looks like the honey monster?

If you take it for what it is - quality film.

My personal favourite is the scene where he has taken the 'E' and thinks it's a 'dud'.

And the girl he gets married to......... :smashit:

graphic violence you want = passion of christ

N B K is just violence for the sake of it, plus you could argue that most of Q Tarintino's movies are violent. ( the killing of the 88 in part 1 of Kill Bill is brilliant)

& my triumph for all the beheadings,, HIghlander 1

Philosophy of a Knife.

Part documentary, part exploitation, it's about the events that happened at the Japanese base Unit 731 during the second world war. The base was pretty much an excuse to torture, rape, and infect people/children with fatal diseases.

I'm not squeamish in any way, I'll watch anything you put infront of me, but I've read enough about this film to know that I never, ever want to see it. I watched the YouTube trailer and felt pretty horrible for a few hours afterwards.

Gangs of New York has it's moment and as previously mentioned the passion of the christ had some brutal scenes in it.

Have to agree.

I bought it after a recommendation on here and it's one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Dan from Eastenders is unintentionally hilarious though.
