Dalry
Was looking at the state of our pitch before the game and thought it looks pretty cut up, especially towards the Gorgie Road end and seeing it on TV tonight thought it looked bad also. If it starts to get very poor there's a chance it could hurt us when teams like St.Mirren come and want a scrappy game. Mind you saw Well's pitch on TV and it's shocking! Why do the under 19s play at Tynecastle or was that just a one-off for the Hibs game?

Watching sportscene i noticed all the pitches looked bad, maybe down to the snow and recent games too

Most of the SPL pitches are looking the worse for wear now, and it is a sympton of having to leave your under soil heating on too long. Most pitches now are bought in, rather than grown from seed and as a result tend to have very poor root systems. If the under soil heating is on for a long time, as it would have been at most clubs over a large part of December, this further destroys the roots and the pitch as a result.
