Got a Moroccan lamb tagine cooking away in my slow cooker at the moment, to be served with couscous.

So go on then...how do you make your stovies?

HAS to have corned beef in them, I put sausage in mine as well but for me they are a dead loss if there's no corned beef in them!

Im doing stovies using beef. The other day my mate said he made his with sausages!

I cooked the chopped onions and fat together in a pan then added the beef and potatoes. Then gave it a good stir and added the salt, pepper, water and stock. Then i left to boil and simmer for about 25 minutes and gave it a stir now and then to keep it from sticking to the pot and make sure it mushed together.

Voila. Only the second time I have made them though, she usually does it. Am i doing it right? Any tips?

Edit - Thinking of making chocolate krispies tomorrow. Seems boring though, any way i can make them more exciting?

Ask 100 people how they make their stovies and you'll get 100 different recipes! Some swear by corned beef, others by sausages...

I think the best stovies are made with the leftovers from a roast (and the dripping!) but it's all down to personal preference, I suppose. Oh, and you've got to leave them to stick to the pot a bit - those crispy bits you get are the best part!

I'm having chicken stir-fry for my tea.

Isn't 'supper' a wee late night snack?

Dinner in my household. Would also refer to supper like you have.

Lets get this straight people.

light meal eaten in the morning = breakfast

light meal eaten early afternoon = lunch

main meal of the day, usually eaten in the evening = dinner *

* dinner may be eaten earlier in the afternoon, bypassing the lunch stage

last meal of the day, usually a light snack, eaten late evening/night = supper

tea = a hot drink

When I worked in Dalkeith, I used to go for my dinner.

Not that I work up the toon, I go for lunch.

Pals at school used to say "I'm away hame for my tea", and I'd think "Tea? WTF?" It was aye cried dinner in ma hoose!

Also, I mind we had 'pals', which suddenly changed to 'mates' overnight! WTF?

Ah, nomenclature - doncha love it?

Most people in Scotland replace the word 'why' with 'how'. That doesn't make it correct.

I'm going to have Conghiglie with a pork and apple sausage, wholegrain beer mustard, white wine, red pepper, red chilli, cream, wild rocket and basil sauce.

Adapted from a Nigel Slater recipe. Tremendous.

Superb. Will have to give that a try.

One of my favourites is Salsiccia tossed through Rigatoni with Broccoli, chilli, rosemary and olive oil.

And free pizza, delivered, is most definitely FTW.
