Winter jackets

I'm talking jackets people, not coats. I've got shit loads of coats, stylish mutha fuggers they are too.

What I need is something warm, down filled and possibly windproof that doesn't look like a gimpy anorak.

And that isn't, under any circumstances, by North Face*.

Ordering online and not costing the earth would be a bonus as well.

Stylish gentlemen of JKB, do your worst.

* Northface stuff is great, but I live in New York and every upper middle-class twunt on the Upper West Side is wearing it whilst pushing their brats around in Bugaboos or whatever they're called, and I want no part of that scene.

Tempting, very tempting. But my inability to grow a decent tache to go with it counts against it. laugh.gif

I'd be bawling my eyes out if my tear ducts hadn't frozen hours ago.

Damn your black heart.

Since you're in New York there's a great sports shop called Paragon Sports down about Broadway at 18th (I think) that sells Marmot kit at reasonable prices.

You won't get better.

Cheers for all the suggestions guys. Keep 'em coming.

I've narrowed it down, but thinking something with a 'harder' outer than a few of the shell ones would be good.

Liking the look of some of the Canada Goose stuff but it's crazy expensive... any alternatives?

Decent merino pishes all over cashmere in my not so humble opinion. But thanks for the advice, Mum. laugh.gif

No probs nana but I think you'll find cashmere softer and finer. The finer yarn could possibly give the better thermal properties as it traps more air but heyho I'm not the one whos asking for advice here :P

I know you're against them, but i got a North Face for my christmas. Think it's the hyvent. Seriously warm and you can take the fleece out it to and use it as a windbreaker

I think we have a winner. thumbsup.gif

I'm not heavily into fashion, but I'm very particular about my coats and jackets. It's good to see someone else with good taste on here. thumbsup.gif

Sigh, I've already told you. Marmot. Superb kit.

This!

I have one of these for when it's nippy but not really cold or wet. Great coat.

Take a wander to Paragon anyway, they sometimes have serious savings in their specials.

Will do, just joking about the Marmot stuff, I know it's good gear.

Here's some more along those lines:

http://www.mountain-..._jacket_---570/

http://www.houseofbr...at-prodts25165/ (I can vouch for this one being warm as ****)

http://www.planetfea..._0_27026_1.html

http://www.climbers-...of_jackets.aspx

http://www.oipolloi....lack+brown.html Can't go wrong with this one. Oi Polloi is decent to browse in general for stuff you like.

http://www.outnet.eu.../down-parka.php warm as toast

http://www.campcraft...aign=GoogleBase

http://shop.packyour..._medium=organic

http://www.tamarackg...ns_Outdoor.html The Norrona is excellent (half way down or so, in black obviously)

Also, I wouldn't say no to anything from MA.STRUM (some look a bit dodgy mind, http://i51.tinypic.com/2w4bshw.jpg) or those Barbour dryflys and quilted coats are very stylish and warm as ovens. None of the Fjallravens are waterproof, they're just wind resistant.

Also here's the thread on this from a few months ago

http://www.hmfckickb...ost__p__1881950

Sorry to go all Gok Wan on you but a coat or jacket is very important imo.
