Was only a fiasco on here mate. Wasn't much in it in truth. VR approached him, JJ wasn't bothered about it too much, PH signed for Aberdeen before he got solid offer from us. Does anyone think JJ "suffers" more from interference on signings than, say, Lennon? Sacking Csaba, appointing not just JJ but his team, the aforementioned signings, the debt for equity swap, continuing financial support to a lheavily indebted and still loss-making business, with far fewer strings than any other conceivable lender in today's climate ... all positives. As was offloading a lot of dead wood (and avoiding repeating the mistake by bringing in more). Only negatives - Hartley (but asking Hart;ey for some reassurance about not holding press conferences crit icising the running of the club was hardly outrageous behaviour), and the Goncalves/Zal freeze-outs (though Jose played when JJ wanted him and with Zal the tactic worked). We've not heard much from him. If rumour be believed Rudi and Adrian were both signed by him. Kudos for both. IIRC it wasnt an awful long time ago but hadnt been for a long while previously. We are used to chairmen that are supporters and actually attending is seen as part of your support of the team, we keep hearing his busy work load etc etc but early days when he had hero status and his name sung he attended most games, this would endear him to the fans more IMO but that apart he has learned to zip it a wee bit and his input into transfers has been positive. The only bit of "meddling" he has managed this season has been in bringing back Rudi, cant thank him enough for that. Also Adrian Pole, he has been great this season. I think also the childrens season tickets ?19 for 19 home games is immense, great for the future. Off the pitch the clubs charitable work like the breakfast clubs for schools is brilliant. The longer he stays in the background and lets the manager manage the football side of the business the better. The fact I cannot really think of anything negative should probably be deemed a positive as well. Maybe, just maybe, he has learned, over the course, that running the football side of a football club is a specialist task, and he needs to concentrate and what he does best (which at the moment is staying in the background and overseeing things from a distance). Kept the club running for another year so thats a plus point as well. Made a bit of a mess with the Hartley thing and shouldnt really be signing players over the managers head, but luckily he picked two good uns this year.
