Say What Again
Could have been kinder to Tottenham. A couple of stand-out ties in Inter v Bayern (repeat of last years final) and Arsenal v Barcelona. Lyon v Real Madrid could be tight too. Valencia, Schalke, Roma, Man U, Chelsea and Shaktar will be quite happy I'd imagine. Roma v Shaktar AC Milan v Tottenham Valencia v Schalke Inter v Bayern Lyon v Real Madrid Arsenal v Barcelona Marseille v Man U FC Copenhagen v Chelsea

rossthejambo
Must have missed the Barca v Real game then ! They looked unbeatable. I caught highlights and you're right, Barca tore the arse off Real. I just think over 2 legs Barca won't be as effective as Real and could go out before the final. Having Mourinho in charge has a big bearing on my pick.
The Treasurer
The Champions League set-up has had it's day like the SPL 4 English teams left in out of 16 and how many other clubs haven't even won their own representing national league Bring back the old European Cup knock-out format with League Winners only thats a true Champions competition . Agree 100% How can a competition be called the CHAMPIONS League when teams that finished 4th in their domestic league be able to enter. As has been mentioned, the CL is purely now a money making exercise for UEFA and does nothing to encourage teams from smaller footballing nations to try and improve and mount a challenge. As has been mentioned, the CL is purely now a money making exercise for UEFA and does nothing to encourage teams from smaller footballing nations to try and improve and mount a challenge. The current CL set up was a sop by UEFA to prevent a European "Super" League. Move back to the original format of the European Cup and you then have that old argument back again. At least they dropped the second group stage. Totally agree though that a trophy called the Champions League which has entrants who aren't champions is farcical. Nelly Terraces
Yawn. Am I the only person to be seriously underwhelmed at anything to do with this tedious tournament which is merely an excuse for the same teams to make more money every year? Charlie-Brown
Two each from our top four leagues. Roma and Milan, Schalke and Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Man U and Chelsea You would hope that the Champions League hadn't simply descended into the quarter finals being as predictable as taking the 2 richest clubs from each of the 4 richest leagues (Italy, Germany, Spain & England) as you have predicted and that come the real action it's a little bit more interesting and surprising than that?
