Boomstick
Well then folks, who's yer favourite? I honestly can't choose. I love them all. Gram They all rocked a mean cover too. Tommy Wiseau
Townes and Steve are great. Gram's one of the greatest of all time though. No contest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zR-tKVt0VU&p=854149D84E12FEAE I do like Justin Townes Earle just now. Steve's son and named after Van Zandt. He's class, but sadly shares my man Gram's love of the jag... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf9lvU8_JUo
Brian Whittaker's Tache
Got the Steve Earle bio, Hardcore Troubadour for Christmas last year, crackin read. Seen him live a few times and even solo he's amazing Justin was supposed to be playing Edinburgh next week but unfortunately it's been cancelled as he's back in rehab following an altercation at a gig in the states. Auld Reekin'
All excellent, as is this good ol' boy... Perfroming here with Emmylou, who he's often recorded with. He is much inspired by Townes Van Zandt, who he was also great friends with, and in his turn has influenced Steve Earle - also a good friend. Boris
One of my favourite Gram Parsons songs (well, his version of a standard I suppose)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZnrMPpvA_I The 1973 Live album is genius. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj8qnzwHUwo International Submarine Band and The Flying Burritto Brothers also top, top notch. Boris
Just to add to this thread, I'd throw Gene Clark into the mix of country rock/alt-country tunesmiths. Not as stetson wearing as some, but bloody good none the less. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqwJgscCtoA The song "Some Misunderstanding" from the No Other album is genius. Gene Clark ?
