Probably Bannon as he was around when I started going to games myself.

Whiile still hanging on to my dads every word (and wallet), would probably be Donald Ford.

The OP said when you were 'growing up'.

So I assume you are referring to Dave Mackay.

Horatio Caine

Willie Hamilton. Sadly didn't see as much of his skills as I would have liked.

But, like others, Donal Ford too. Am I right in thinking he never even got booked? A true sportsman if ever there was one.

I don't really need to answer, as I still rave about him now!

Ray Winstone

Mickey Cameron - Never thought Hearts played well when he was not playing.

Was about 8 when he signed and I thought it was Brilliant.

Up until then it was John Robertson.

Willie Gibson and Drew Busby and for some reason John Brough when I was a nipper.

Then in my later teens when I started really understanding real quality footballers, Craig Levein

Drew Busby, then Willie Gibson (although he was pretty gash really, I only really remember him throwing his head back in disappointment at another chance squandered) then obviously John Robertson. I also liked Rab Prentice, Donald Ford, Eammon Bannon & John Colqhoun.

LOL! :mw_rolleyes:

He he...you know, it wasn't the fact that he was an outstanding talent etc. I know he was far from it. I just loved his style of play and the fact that every time he pulled that maroon jersey over his head, he gave 100%...and more...

Oh dear, I've started again:mw_rolleyes:

Used to love Robbo obviously - although his best days were before my time - and also loved Stephane Adam and Colin Cameron.

Totally agree with your choices Luther, Willie H was something else but I'm afraid he pressed the self-destruct button before he could show everybody how special he really was.

Top man for me was (and still is) Donald Ford, for a good number of years he was the Hearts forward line and I still feel fortunate that I witnessed his great hatrick at Aberdeen, sheer class.

Something sticks in mind that I was at a game at Tynie when he was booked by a ref called (I think) R.Gordon from Newport on Tay, but I could be (probably am) wrong, never mind great memories !!

Scott Crabbe - looked like a top prospect when he first came into the Hearts team and I still think that selling him to Dundee United was a big mistake.

John Millar as although he wasn't the most skillfull player he had a useful habit of scoring in big games.

The White Cockade

anyone remember the poster of Neil Murray in Shoot

with the heading "Neil Murray - Brains of Tynecastle"

has to be Eamon Bannon for me - scored about 20 goals in our promotion season from midfield and he was only about 19

most of them long range crackers as well

tragedy he left us for Chelsea so soon as he would have been an all time great for us
