I was a bit disappointed. I put it down to being a massive Spidey fan and wishing the movies mirrored the comics more.

Think Kasady should have been a different actor....and much darker.

Watch it again and watch it with a fairer mind. It is a wonderous and marvellous film

Omg it looks fantastic . Paul Mascale has no half butched up !! Hope for me yet . Hard to be as manly masculine as the Crowe though !! But looks like he is given it a good try

Look like a lot of CGI which is disappointing. But Ridley Scott is a bold filmmaker so could be interesting

There's a new Frankenstein with Christian Bale playing the monster. Out in 2025 don't do horror usually but might watch it

I think this looks brilliant

Doesn't it.

I've enjoyed the original and the Klaus Kinski 1979 film.

I'm a bit of a horror buff and really looking forward to this.

I've never listened to Gordon Forrest and Megan Rapinoe's music, either.

Watched Kneecap on IPTV, last week. It was brilliant. A bit like an Irish Trainspotting.

New Joker film was disappointing tbh.

Seems like Hollywood have run out of original ideas. Recently watched the remake of Papillon, was a decent watch but tbf but not a patch on the original.

Heard as much from others. Shame as the first was a brilliant film, not exactly original but a good film with Phoenix putting in some performance.

Director must be taking the piss. Worst film I’ve ever seen in the cinema. And I don’t mind a musical 😂

I probably will not watch the new Joker which is a shame as the first was great.

Worst movie i've ever seen at the cinema was only god forgives. I didnt leave only because i thought there is no way it could remain so shit. It did not improve.

I love Only God Forgives it's a great looking film. Worst for me is Closed Circuit, a really boring film

Phoenix is good again, singing isn’t bad, but yeah im not sure what the sequel achieved unless theres a another movie.

I think he will regret this, looks like it’s going to cost them millions.

Perhaps in lost revenue from it being a hit but I think it’s already covered it’s budget.

Watched the joker last night….what a pile of keek.

Two things stood out:

Seemed to be all about an extension of the first story with the joker being on trial for the murders in the first film.  Most people would expect a new/different direction and plot but no.

The inclusion of lady gaga turned the film into a sing fest (possibly included in her terms to appear in the film)

I don’t think there will be a third.

masterworks.jpg

Those two rows are about 2/3rds of the Gollancz SF Masterworks series.

Absolute classics of SF nearly every one of them

I reckon about 20 of them have been filmed and yet we have endless remakes of SF films of the recent past and an endless stream of marvel comics (all with nearly the same plot)

I despair - there are some brilliant imaginary ideas and stunning plots in there just waiting to be filmed.

Just as an example - Vernor Vinge - arguably the greatest SF author since Philip K Dick.

Books filmed = 0

Hugo awards for the best SF novel (effectively the SF Nobel prize) = 3

Rant over

I see that it's a new trilogy of films, with 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple, being filmed back-to-back with this entry
