Great film to treat the other half to, she'll think you're being nice by going to see a film surrounding the ballet, win win.

I have never looked forward to a film as much as this in my life. Terrence Malick is such a fantastic director that the film cannot fail to be anything other than amazing. Look at some of the shots in that trailer, it is going to look absolutely stunning.

??? em... I don't get the trailer, looks pretty dull to me

It's not going to be an all action, edge of the seat type of film obviously. His four other films (Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World) are all slow burners, thinkers, he doesn't like to make things at all obvious for the viewer but they are all exceptionally well written and beautifully shot.

He's also got a bit of a knack of throwing out conventional methods of film-making which I find really interesting, for example the average length of shot in the typical Hollywood film is no more than a few seconds, Malick though uses a lot of long takes - in Badlands there is one continuous shot that lasts well over a minute. When he filmed 'Days of Heaven' he decided to film almost the entire length of the movie during what is referred to as 'The Golden Hour', the hour or so just before sunset where everything is cast in a sort of golden glow, having only an hour a day to shoot in caused him and his crew all sorts of problems but the end result is the most visually stunning film I've seen. Shot in 1976 without the use of any special effects.

Basically, the man is a genius of film-making and whilst I accept his films aren't for everyone you really need to watch them to even begin to get them, the trailers don't even begin to give you an idea.

The official synopsis gives more of an idea of what the film will be about than the trailer does :

"We trace the evolution of an eleven-year-old boy in the Midwest, Jack, one of three brothers. At first all seems marvelous to the child. He sees as his mother does with the eyes of his soul. She represents the way of love and mercy, where the father tries to teach his son the world?s way of putting oneself first. Each parent contends for his allegiance, and Jack must reconcile their claims. The picture darkens as he has his first glimpses of sickness, suffering and death. The world, once a thing of glory, becomes a labyrinth.

From this story is that of adult Jack, a lost soul in a modern world, seeking to discover amid the changing scenes of time that which does not change: the eternal scheme of which we are a part. When he sees all that has gone into our world?s preparation, each thing appears a miracle?precious, incomparable. Jack, with his new understanding, is able to forgive his father and take his first steps on the path of life.

The story ends in hope, acknowledging the beauty and joy in all things, in the everyday and above all in the family?our first school?the only place that most of us learn the truth about the world and ourselves, or discover life?s single most important lesson, of unselfish love."

The Wicker Tree

The sequal to the original Wicker Man. It's been delayed a few times but apparently it's been made and is out sometime this year.

Everything these guys do turns out pretty good! Spielberg and JJ Abrams next project!

Longer trailer is out, looks like a different movie than the first trailer suggested. This now looks like ET meets Close Encounters... I will probably see it as I love alien movies, but wher the first trailer was so ominous, this is different!

Looks like a good mixture of horror and comedy;

About a teen gang in South London defending their block from an alien invasion. :lol:

Love it, "cumming and have a go if you think your hard enough"; :lol: Inner city London hoodies defending their block of a high rise against ferocious and intelligent Aliens; :lol:
