The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Europe, warning of a "high threat" of attacks in countries including France and Germany.

Security sources have warned of an al-Qaeda plan to send teams of gunmen to crowded places to kill civilians."Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers."

Theres hardly a week goes by now without some escalation of the "threat level" at here or abroad.

A week or so ago it was Irish terrorists who were going to bomb our asses.

 

Its all very Orwellian/1984'ish. Snacks of scaremongering, black propaganda and attempts at trying to feck with our minds, our behaviours and our attitudes.

 

Not often I'm in general agreement with Therapist but since theres sod all we can do about it anyway I will also continue to eat drink and be merry, whether its in George Street, Picadilly, Paris or Madrid.

I agree. Everyone should be careful anyway but I wouldn't cancel any trips because of it. If we let them seriously change our way of life ( and our own government tries that sometimes with detention laws, id cards etc... ) then they have effectively won.

The Taliban have removed the bodies of eight militants killed in a US drone attack in Pakistan, the BBC has been told.

 

Pakistani security officials say that four of the dead were German nationals.

 

They were killed by two missiles fired at a house in North Waziristan. A number of people were said to have been wounded.
