Is there a worse feeling than when this happens? I've got it pretty easy and get paid weekly every Friday. The money went in on Friday as normal, and as of this morning I have ?8.02 in my account. It costs me just under ?6 a day to get to work, so I'm going to have to do what every man dreads, and get a sub off my mum.

I went overdrawn for two days last week (for only the second time ever) and have paid through the nose for that, as well as for a missed direct debit, a phone bill, League Cup tickets and money to eat.

******* rank.

A couple of bad betting runs have put me close.

During the world cup, I chose to put a few bets on and go without busses or lunch for two days.

For various reasons I have, for several months been massivley overdrawn to the extent that at one point I was ?1000 overdrawn on the day I got paid!! <_<

Getting it under control now and have reduced the overdraft enourmously i still need it especially for the dreaded 5 week month! but hoping by the turn of the year I will be better than cash neutral on payday.

Lockily I have afree o/d facility and an understanding client manager at RBS

I get paid every Thursday. Couple of weeks ago I managed to spunk a full weeks wages on a 18hr session wrapped around a trip to parkhead. Drank enough to probably kill an elephant, woke up Sunday morning in my maw's house( nae money get back to town that night). Had to sub 60 quid off her to eat and get myself to work the rest of the week. To top it off I had a 4 day hangover. Bad times, never again, Parkhead can GTF

Find the older I get, the better at managing my money I get.

Cant believe anyone would be betting money when they know they are skint. 5 week month does not really stand up as an excuse I'm afraid.

I dunno man. It is pretty easy to go through money without seeing it go anywhere.

This is really boring, but....

Give yourself a budget for the Mon - Fri part of the week - take a piece to work etc.

Should leave you with enough ??????? to get high on goof balls at the weekend.

It might be an idea, Gig. Too often I get a balance at the cash machine and feel like greeting looking at the amount of money I've spent on absolutely **** all.

It does.

I didn't actually know it was going to be a 5 week month, as I'd not long been in the job. I wouldn't have paid my digs 1 week in advance if I'd known I wouldn't be paid. It was a risk that didn't pay off.

Also, that advert was filmed with kids from my old High School.

Mate, always check the calender.

Also, have a bet free month - good to show you are on top of things.

I remember when LP was on here pretty much asking what an accumulator was. Now he's betting his house, life, friends and livelihood away in front of our eyes :(

LP, this is an intervention....

I would be about ?600 better off for the last 3 months if it had not been for some poor nights in the casino.

Think I may retire from all forms of gambling.

I don't really understand the talk of 5 week months tbh. The shortest month is 28 days and the longest is 31 days.

You get paid either every....

4 weeks

5 weeks

That extra week can be a bugger. January is my bad one. For some reason most of the birthdays I have to buy for are at that point - and usually a bit skint after Christmas.

I see. I get paid every month on the same date so it's not a problem I'm familiar with.

Do you know him?

Phone his mum pronto and tell her to get a lock on his door, take away his laptop and gee him a months supply of food and vally's. With God's help he can conquer this terrible affliction.

Then tell his ma to come round mines.

I get paid on the last working day of the month which means I always hope the last two days of the month are a weekend. I still have ?120 left to do me until Thursday. I'd much rather get paid weekly.

I was unemployed for a few months last year so I learned how to survive on next to no money. Bringing your own lunch to work saves the cash, I often double up on meals - I'll make something and stick half in the fridge for lunch/dinner the next day. Last week I spent less than 30 notes on food, such parsimony during the week allows me to blow most of it at the weekend.

I'm a fiscal Jeckyl and Hyde, a tight arse Monday-Friday but I'll happily blow a large slice of my wages at the weekend. I also like to buy myself something on pay day to attempt to soften the blow of the most of spirit-crushing tedium I had to endure for the past month. I haven't been in my overdaft since 2007 (I had it at ?2500 at one point  )
