83 players have signed up, including 14 complete teams of four.

There's no deadline yet, but I'll set one in a couple of days from now.

Can i be the 84th?

You can indeed.

If there are more players than places available priority will be given to people who have played the Predictor before. But I'll do my best to get everyone on to a team.

The entry deadline has passed.

92 players have signed up. That's 23 teams, and 24 would make it easier to organise qualifying groups.

So if anyone else is interested please post or PM.

JKB Autumn 2010 SPL Predictor

Competition Rules

Entry: The competition is open to all JKB members in good standing. Entry to the competition is free. Members can enter the competition by posting on this thread (or any other designated competition thread).

Predictions: The competition requires players to predict the scoreline of games played in the SPL (games from other competitions may also be included at the discretion of the organiser). Players may submit predictions (i) by posting on this thread (or any other designated competition thread); (ii) by sending predictions by Private Message or via the JKB email facility to Ulysses or to other designated members (known as the Predictor massive), (iii) by email to [email protected] (or any other designated competition email address).

Prediction deadlines: For each round, a coupon of games to be predicted will be posted, and it will state the deadline for predictions to be made. The coupon will contain a maximum of six games. Predictions submitted after the deadline stated on the coupon will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of players to ensure that their predictions are posted in time. Neither the organisers nor JKB Administration can accept responsibility for the late posting of any forecast because of error or failure in JKB or the email system.

Prediction amendments: Predictions already submitted may be amended, but this must be done before the deadline stated on the coupon.

Proxy predictions and amendments: Players MUST submit their own predictions and amendments directly. Predictions submitted on behalf of players by other people will not be accepted.

Scoring and format: This is a team competition, and players are in teams of four. Teams will play head-to-head matches against other teams. The team score for a match will be the total points scored by all its players. If a player predicts the overall result of a game correctly (e.g. St. Mirren to beat Hibs), they will score 1 point for their team. If a competitor predicts the exact scoreline correctly (e.g. St. Mirren 1-0 Hibs), they will score 3 points.

Postponed games: If a game is postponed and decided by the Pools Panel, the overall result (home win, away win, or draw) is counted, and points will be awarded for it. Points will not be awarded for the scoreline. If a game is postponed and not decided by the Pools Panel it is void and all players will score 0 points for it.

Platinum game: In each round, one of the games on the coupon will be designated the Platinum game, and will score double points (2 points for a correct overall result and 6 points for a correct scoreline). The method for selecting the Platinum game will be at the discretion of the organiser.

Competition stages: The competition will be held in two stages. The first stage will be run for 10 rounds until the weekend of 20-21 November. Teams will be drawn into 4 qualifying groups of 6 teams each. In each round, teams will play matches against each other, and will score 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Teams will play each other twice in the qualifying group stage.

At the end of this stage, the top 3 teams in each group (12 teams in all) will qualify for the knockout stage. The teams placed 2nd and 3rd in their groups (8 teams in all) will play each other in the first knockout round. The four group winners will be given a bye to the quarter-final round.

In the knockout stage, teams will compete against each other in head-to-head ties using the same scoring system. The team with the higher score in each tie will progress to the next round.

Prizes: Each player on the competition winning team will win a ?20 voucher for the Hearts store.

Tie-break: In the group stage, if two or more teams are tied for a qualifying position on the same number of points, a tie-break will be used to decide the winner. The tie-break will be based on the results of the group games played between/among the tied teams. In the event that this tie-break does not resolve the tie, the team with the most points scored in its matches will be the winner. If this does not resolve the tie, another tie-break method will be chosen at the discretion of the competition organiser. The tie-break method for drawn knockout ties will be announced before the knockout stage begins.

Exclusion from the competition: Any member who enters the competition and who is subsequently banned from JKB will be excluded from the competition. Any member who is suspended from posting on the board may continue to participate in the competition while suspended, unless JKB Administration directs otherwise.

Player substitution: A team can drop one of its players and sign another member to play for the team. This can be done at any stage in the competition, but can only be done with the approval of the competition organiser.

Amendments: These rules may be amended at the discretion of the organiser if necessary to ensure the effective running of the competition.
