Higher percentage of inexperienced (read women) drivers who see fit to drive over sharp jaggy things, kerbs etc. The "I'm pish at driving so will buy the smallest car I can" brigade. Either that or the eco-warriors who refuse to buy new tyres on the grounds of cruelty to gumtrees and their (ironic) opposition to fossil fuels.
