I think the away kit in 86 would look good again (silver top with maroon shorts and white socks) think it was 86 anyway hope its not blue anyway!

Just like the one worn in May 1986?

Unlucky strip that never wants to see the light of day again!

An away strip should be the exact opposite of the home strip ie white top with maroon shorts altho the candy stripe top is perfectly acceptable.

I'd love to see a new (or indeed exact copy) of the 85/86 away..

The strip wasn't unlucky, the players only needed a draw. But when your bottle goes your bottle goes, you need to pick up the pieces and get on.

I'd defo buy a silver away, or the candy stripe as mentioned.

Exact opposite of home (provided the new home isn't bogging with too much white on it already) is also spot on.

I think white with maroon detail works very nicely.

^^^This. I don't mind them playing around with it, maybe candy strip, maybe Ajax style in our colours, but always white with maroon.

That having been said, the tinfoil top was a classic.

Just say no to blue or yellow away tops.

For me anyone except the top left, gives me flashbacks to schooldays for some reason.

I'd like to see a black/maroon away kit. I think a white/maroon one is gash.

Inter Milan.. :)

However, a nice simple maroon top/white shorts/maroon socks and white top/maroon shorts/white socks should be easy enough.

Aye.

If we're not getting a reverse of the home kit (by the way, where does it say an away kit should be the reverse of the home kit? That's bollocks.) Then something a little different would be nice.

Mind you though, anything's better than last season's away.

I don't hold with the whole '1986' thing about a silver strip - I think it would be good to have another. I think we've had a silvery grey one since - one of the 'Miller Homes' shirts

I never want to see a grey strip again.

The shirt you're talking about was light blue IIRC.

I`ve got the retro 86 grey top from Football Nation. Nothing wrong with it but i understand how some relate to the ruins of 86. A few younger Hearts fans have came up to me out of the blue on matchday asking were you can get it.(not that i wear it every matchday!)

Anyway...i`d like both strips this season to tip its cap to the past. I put my tuppence worth in to Hearts when they asked for ideas and would like to see some link to by gone days.

For the away, and it might not go down well with some, i said what about a red, white and blue effort in homage to one of our early strips? it doesn`t have to be explicitly like a Huns top which many would fear. You could make it all white with subtle red and blue pin stripes or something?

I know it won`t happen though.

The red, white and blue top looked nothing like a Rangers top. It was hooped.

i know, but i`ve no doubt the narrow minded will comment on the colours and some may not be aware of the background and history, especially neutrals. plus, Rangers first strip was hooped too!

White away kit, but what about a BLACK third kit?

For some reason I would really like that thumbsup.gif

1. 1986 should be celebrated for the achievements rather than lamented for 8 mins of one match. a 1986 revival top would be brilliant.

2. plain white away tops are indeed gash. no imagination whatsoever.

3. the diagonal band design is good. i think it would look even better on a bright yellow base.

Something like this but maybe with a white and grey stripes with maroon flashes and maroon or white shorts would look quite cool I think

If anyone wants to mock it up that would be super.

I think the black/maroon is starting to grow on me :)

They are hardly night and day though. The two strips idea is so we have something that does not clash with the team we are playing.

Plain white or red, white and blue for me.

The black top is cool the only problem is it would probably clash with the home top, it might work s a third strip though

The reason for having an away kit is to avoid colour clashes.

The only teams that our kit clashes with are Aberdeen, Dundee Utd (on occasion although I'm not convinced) and Motherwell (occasionally, depending on their kit of the time). Black would not clash with any of these.
